sense to allow the woman to marry many as opposed to just the man marrying multiple wives? This way the woman has multiple incomes. Cuz if u think about it, if a man has many wives then that is more money spent on many so there is less for each wife. I already know that the man only can have another wife if his first allows him to and that they are all treated equally so please explain why the woman is only allowed one husband?

To me, it is about creating a world where all beliefs, religions (or disbeliefs or non-religions), all people in all classes of society, all races, sub-cultures and individualists can live freely without discrimination and judgement.

Where humans can be and believe what ever they want without some a$shole trying to dominate them with physical or verbal abuse, but where people can argue about beliefs without resorting to violence. What is your concept of a better world?

For instance, in Religion and Spirituality, the questions that are generally asked are those that are insulting, to Christianity in particular, and to belief in something greater than ourselves, in general. People should just repect each others beliefs or lack thereof and grow up.

You ever read the Book of Mormon? It's a virtual carbon-copy of the writing style and type of content of the Bible - and yet you say IT'S Man-made! Two things that are so alike must have a similar origin... How come "God's" book looks so much like a book written by a man, hmm...

scratch the dictionary, if you don't mind - is it only concerning objects? is it metaphysical? is it subjective?

don't tell me its a silly question as a statement of fact, unless you can demonstrate that your statement of fact is truthful.

well I've seen so many misunderstandings about the Old Testament Around here..
Many people don't Understand that the Old Testament is based on The LAW Given to moses SPECIFICALLY FOR The ISRAEL in that time!!
Now in these times we live in The Grace time - which means that everything written in The New testament is doctrine!! and everything that is written in The Old testament is a reference and MOST of the things written in the old testament are symbolic!!

for example:
people say that " The parents stoned his children if they disobeyed them"
well this Law was specially written is the Mosaic Law for the Jewish only!! not for us because we are called the gentiles The bible says that we no longer live under the Law but under the Grace!!
so when people say and write passages like that it clearly shows me that they don't have a clue of what they're saying!!
Many of the things in the OLD TESTAMENT WERE ABOLISHED IS NOT DOCTRINE THAT WE HAVE TO FOLLOW !!

GOT IT!!

Jesus went to synagogue, even though he didn't agree with the religious leaders of his day. I go to church (Episcopal) every Sunday even though I don't agree with everything about it. I feel it keeps me in touch with the mystical side of Christianity, comforting me in the realization that I don't have to understand it all to trust in it. Why (or why not) do you go to church?

if not, how can you pick and choose what's true and what's not?

like if you don't believe that noah lived to be 950 years old, but believe that jesus is the son of god? how is that legitimate??

or if you don't believe that the earth is only 6000 years old, but you believe that there's heaven waiting if you worship 'god'? how is that possible?

how is that possible to pick things in the bible as true and others as false?

see what i'm saying, christians always say "don't take the bible literally"...but they go on and say "jesus is the son of god and the savior cuz the bible says so"....hmm, sounds like taking it literally.

I ask this as a follow up to my question yesterday about if the end's justifies the means.
Most Christians answered that it is not right to commit an evil even if the end result is a greater good.

But why do you not hold god to the same standard? Why is it ok for god to kill (example: story of Job) an entire family or even an entire planet of people (Flood) and not be held accountable.

Goodness is not a characteristic. It is actions interpreted by others. God's actions are not good because he is God. He should be good BECAUSE of his actions.
To justify murder of a family simply because you feel like it or because others can look on it and learn something does not make it ok.
From your own words the ends do NOT justify the means.

Let the Christian rationalizations begin.
