Yes and it's because they depend more on God than what money can do for them which they don't have much of. Unlike rich countries, since money is very easy to attain, they dont' need God in their lives because "money" keeps them secure. The rich (although not all) doesn't appreciate little things...unlike the poor. Notice though, that the poor are actually happier than the rich and the poor are the most meekest of all. God said, "the meek one themselves will posses the Earth."

Most humans believe they are god. It is when they run out of resources and rational that they start to seek a higher truth. It can be financial resources or it can be spiritual resources, it really doesn't matter, what brings a man to his end, but unfortunatly it usually takes banging their heads for many years and finally when they surrender or give up completely then God can help them. It seems like a waste of time, but it isn't if the goal of salvation is achieved, because that is the beginning of eternity.

It is not because God wants His loved ones to be poor.
But the poor begin to realize that they must seek for the Source of affluence; therefore they turn to religion, but they are not religious yet.
Religious people must be affluent physically, intellectually and spiritually. And we can only reflect the glory of God in this perfect affluence.

Probably because the rich people depend solely on themselves and the wealth they obtained. Jesus said that is it is easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. They don't think they need God.

I think it's because the US is a nation of immigrants. Immigrants are displaced from the native communities, and so religion provides a substitute extended family / community with all the familiarities of home.
