For instance, in Religion and Spirituality, the questions that are generally asked are those that are insulting, to Christianity in particular, and to belief in something greater than ourselves, in general. People should just repect each others beliefs or lack thereof and grow up.

I don't understand why some people are finding this question so offensive. I was just reading the "questions" that were in Religion and Spirituality, and I was amazed by the amount of overtly hostile questions-not questions that honestly seek an informed opinion or answer-but those that satire the concept of "God" or "god" and the beliefs in said deity or deities.

Not all non-believers who post to this Forum are hate-mongers. And some self-professed Christians seem to have left the love reservation when judging some of their written words. I will confine my remarks below only to those that act badly.
For both of these types of persons, It is interesting and sad to see how some persons will behave when hiding behind the anonymity of the computer. As an "old guy" I have occasionally acted irresponsibly in my youth, so I can relate, but only up to a point. I suspect that these persons would be truly ashamed if they knew their parents, husband, wife, children, etc., learned of some of the things they write herein. If their loved ones have departed this earth they may even be looking down on these persons from above and weeping at their actions. Clearly they do their loved ones a disservice and dishonor them with such behavior.
I welcome reasoned and cogent questions on R&S topics and usually try to answer them in like manner. I only wish there were more of them versus the usual debris that infects this forum.

The PC crowd:
Everything and everyone has to be accepted (unless you are politically incorrect, especially conservative fundamentalist christians).
You can't curse or bash others (except christians).
All views are good and free speech needs to be protected (except
right-to-life,gun supporting,constitution supporting fundies).
I am all of the above ( I understand).

I agree w/ you M D. I think is ok of you don't agree w/ any religion, or you don't believe in God, but the questions asked here are very insulting, making fun of God or mocking him. I think we can agree to disagree instead of offend people.

Well because they are open minded, that question pretty much answers itself,
I am open minded, I would have no problem asking you any question.
It may however, seem rude or insulting because you might not be open minded and it would make you feel like i was being rude, but in reality i wasnt trying to be.

Oh would you please come down off your high horse? Face it, there's enough mud flying around here at everyone and anyone to drown the world a thousand times over.
There are polite folk and rude folk on every side of this (except the Buddhists. They seem to be avoiding the majority of the giving and taking).

Why is it that the people with the narrowest minds always find everything insulting?
I guess open-minded must depend on your point of view.

open minded has nothing to do with respect. i can be open to different ideas and still dislike christianity or atheism or agnosticism or whatever.
open minded just means your not biased against different ideas, that if someone came up to u with an idea u wouldnt immediately throw it out the window because it doesnt coorelate with your beliefs.
u can still dislike certain ideas.

I get insulted all the time as a Muslim, and receive thumbs-downs just for answering with my honest opinion. These things happen, you just gotta turn the other cheek and let it pass.
