Start from the beginning, the Book of Genesis. From there on keep going. The Bible has smooth flow throughout it's history.

Start at Genesis 1:1 and read it 'straight through' to the end ... but only read a 'section' (chapter) a day, and spend some time 'thinking about what you've read' if you want to get something from the Bible.
As for the 'place' (the question you actually asked was about 'the place you should read it) I'd say 'anywhere you want to read it and can be 'comfortable' when reading it. THAT is 'up to you.'

Start with the Gospel of John, then the Acts of the apostles. After that, start from the beginning - Genesis - and read through.

Read the Gospel. (Mathew Mark Luke and John) these are the books that tell you about Jesus' life, death, and resurection. And maybe you should join a Bible study or Small group. That way if you have questions, other people can discuss them with you.

here is a link to a page of mine on The Bible... on it you will find my recomendation for a beginer to start a reading of The Bible... if you come with an honest seeking heart you will find what God has for you there... if you are not honest in your seeking of understanding... and I do not necessarily mean wanting to convert... then God will not let you find what you seek.
