my favorite fairy tale is Jonah and the whale, Moses parting the Red Sea is another good one.

Christians don''t waste your time telling me that it is true, I don't believe.

Of the frequent answers given by christian theists, I'd like to know the criteria of deciding when the "not literal" one is applicable. For instance, some say the worldwide flood as told in the bible is "not literal" for some reason. However, a man rising from the dead is literal. Why aren't the "four corners" of the planet seen as literal but turning water into wine* is? Some say unicorns in the bible aren't literal unicorns, but talking animals are. I'd like to know the criteria for future reference. Thanks for any honest answers beforehand.

*I know the bible doesn't say Jesus or anyone turned water into wine. But many people who claim to read the bible believe this nevertheless.

What would it take? It would provide ultimate proof of his existence to the rest of you godless atheists!

Christians, give me your best shot. I'll try most anything, up to and including building a space elevator with the specific goal of busting into heaven.

I believe in God. I very much do. I'm not trying to be selfish, or anything like that. But I'm just wondering... if God loves us so much, then how come he allows terrible things to happen to us? Previously, I went to a bible camp, and they told us that God put us through "tests", where terrible things happen to us. This didn't make much sense to me, because if God loves us so much, how could he allow and plan to have pain come to us?

Please, no negative comments. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to understand.

I mean seriously, the vast majority of you people wouldn't be the smartest thing in a room if you were alone with a box of Cheerios, and your inane and witless questions and responses only reinforce that fact.

The Roman Catholic Church's Inquisition brought him to a central Roman market square, his tongue in a gag, tied to a pole naked and burned at the stake, on February 17, 1600

The same cardinal that ordered his execution was made into a Saint.

"Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image' neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God."

This so well descibes what the Catholics have been doing for years now.How can they possibly read scripture like this and continue to commit idolatry?

Is the beekeeper suit mandatory for muslim broads, or is that a free will choice they are making?

You do realize that there shouldn't be drivers licenses issued to muslim girls who wear a beekeeper suit to their drivers license registration photo taking, right?

He refers to Himself as man, or at least Jesus does and most Christians seem to think Jesus is God.

He created man first.

There are rules that imply that men are superior than women, like women should not preach, or speak in church, etc.

God mostly only talks to men, and when he does talk to a woman it's usually for childbearing purposes.

So why would a perfect God obviously have a preference for men over women. Doesn't this disturb Christian women. "God thinks I'm second best, but I still love him."

Don't give me that God loves everyone equal nonsense when's it's obvious He doesn't.

If you don't believe in Jehovah you have that right because you were created with the gift of free will. We are a beautiful creation and when you see a Baby grow inside a Woman that is so precious !!! It's so obvious to see that an intelligent mind is behind that. DNA is amazing, we are all different and made in Jehovah's image. Jesus is Jehovah's Son who sits at his Fathers right hand in the heavens. Don't be so quick to say there is no GOD, please don't sell yourself short. Man has dominated man to his injury with what they think is truth when the Bible explains why we are here and what our hope is for the future. It's funny how man can live to be 100 or 120 years old and be considered an expert at what they think they know. But Jehovah God has always been and what HE teaches us in the scriptures and through his Son Jesus is for our best interest. What are your thoughts?

I know there's quote in the New Testament somewhere about how everyone is equally capable of being a Christian, anyone, be they slaves or masters, can seek salvation...I just can't remember where it is in the NT. Does anyone know what quote I'm talking about or a quote that expresses the same idea, that everyone can be a Christian?

I understand God punishing people because they don't believe in Him, but why eternally? Isn't that cruel and unusual punishment?

Of course, this is only for people who believe in Hell. Some people do not believe in Hell - but I'm talking to Bible-believing Christians.

Joan of Arc was only 19 years old when she was tied to a post and burned alive in flames. Why did God allow such a horrible thing to happen?

First and foremost for me would be respect, not just for me, but for one another.

Selfishly, I would also go with intelligence, and try not to talk to uninteresting or unintelligent people.

While I would say religious beliefs are not a determining factor, I would say that scientific understanding of the natural world would be. For example, I wouldn't neccessarily seek out friendship with someone who believes that Adam and Eve from Genesis is a genetic ancestor.

Politics isn't that much of an issue, but the rationale people use I think would be, example is gay marriage, if someone told me they were against gay marriage because of the Bible, its probably a good bet I wouldn't seek them out for friendship.

What are your thoughts, and criterias?
