bassettman, you make me laughing, thank you. Often I say that it's better to make someone laughing than to make him crying.

Logon17, my opinion should be an answer not an asking. Do the same question and I'll answer.

Ok, you asked for it. I believe that the God in the bible is not the creator. The one responsible for creating everything, in my humble opinion, must be much higher on food chain. I think the biblical God is the one who is responsible for the emergence of man.
Switch your thinking now to less mystical and more scientific. Scientists today can mathematically prove that there are more than just three dimensions. There may be 10 or more. If you base your mindset on the idea that this biblical God is really a higher being from some higher dimension, re-read the bible and suddenly many of the old testament assertions begin to make sense. For instance, I always wondered why humans needed a device called the Arc Of the Covenant to communicate with God. An all powerful God would not need a device. The story of Adam and Eve. Maybe this God took the highest species of ape and used that to create man. Suddenly, evolution and creationism are no longer in conflict. The stories about the war between God and Lucifer where Lucifer's followers revolted against God and were cast down. Maybe he sent them here. Maybe Adam and Eve eating the apple from the tree of knowledge was Lucifer contaminating God's experiment. Which made us unsuitable to go to heaven (the next dimention). Maybe God's son came here to join us and put us back on the right track by going through the dying process and reopening the gates to heaven (the portal to the next dimention).
Could be that if you "get it" meaning you are a good and decient person who rejects the "evil" animialistic part of your humanity, you get to move to the next level. Maybe if you fail to reject the evil side of humanity you have to recycle and try again. Or maybe you move down to a lower level. Or maybe you cease to exist.Maybe we are God's project. To filter the animal part out until we are pure enough to move to the next level.
It pleases me to think that science and religion do not have to be in opposition.
Do I sound like a kook?

To bring as many of his creations (human) back to Him so they can have the original relationship with Him that He had with Adam and Eve initially.

To put us on this planet, in this biological form, make us forget we are God, give us free will, and see what happens.
