Isaiah 7:14 (King James Version)

14Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

--
I'm having a difficult time understanding this. It has always been my understanding that Mary did not "call his name" Immanuel, she "called his name" Jesus. Why does it say he will be named Immanuel if he is not?

I have had several card readings and some of it has come true.

I been to a Spiritualist Church and again some of it has come true.

I do believe in this. It does fascinate me though but do you think some of the things you are told 'conditions the mind' to look out for these things?

And the opposite to what I am asking I had my cards read last year and I said to a friend 'If she can nail something or fact that has happened to me then I will believe in this'
One of the first things I was told was 'You have been talking about or thinking about using lavender oil recently'
The day before this I bought some lavendar oil to help me sleep better.

Any answers appreciated and personal stories.

****Any abuse on this subject and you will be reported****

As far as I know it started off in prayer meetings at Azuza Street by a black preacher William J Seymour with the outpouring of the spirit like the day of pentecost in the book of Acts. People started speaking in tongues and were falling to the floor. I think in the beginning it was the lower class people mainly who were involved. Today people from all walks of life are pentecostals. Could you please give me some more similarites and differences of pentecostalism today to how it was 100 years ago. Please Please Please give me links. PLEASE!

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Praise be to God, the Lord of the Universe.

The most gracious, the most merciful.

Master of the Day of Judgment.

You alone we worship. You alone we ask for help.

Guide us on the straight path

The path of those whom You have blessed, not of those who have earned your anger, nor of those who went astray

I became very concern when I was surfing around the net trying to figure out the truth about the Muslim religion. One website said something about how the caucasians are the devil and will be destroyed. I believe no sound religion would ever point out a single race as the cause of evil. You have to know every white person in the world to make that assumption.

I also wonder about killing in the Muslim Religion. Most religions say its wrong to kill. Killing should always be avoided because people are not born evil.

I keep seeing things, and hearing noises. I smell gun powder a lot in my bathroom, but I don't keep guns in my house, much less fire them... It also gets randomly cold... not just New York weather cold, but freezing cold. I also get these terrible dreams with a woman screaming two to three nights a week, and I always smell gun powder after waking up. I'm not normally one to jump to these kinds of conclusions, but my cousin asked me about it before I'd even told him... is there anything I can do? Anything would be helpful...

Everybody already knows which of God's people the Christians have to hate; I've searched the whole damned web and can't find a single page listing the people I should hate if I want to be an atheist. Can you help, please?

There has been a considerable call for a Creationist FAQ, which doesn't seem to be forthcoming in any great hurry. In the interests of facilitating matters I have decided to jump the gun and provide a provisional Creationist FAQ. Regard this as a provisional effort; I am not an expert in these matters and may have erred in a few small details. Criticisms and suggestions for improvement are welcome. Speculations on my private life will be met with dignified silence.

Q: What is the principle evidence for Creationism?
A: The Holy Bible, of course. After all, is it likely that the author of the Universe would be mistaken about its age?

Q: But isn't the Bible religion and not science?
A: Truth is truth. It's a poor sort of science that ignores truth.

Q: But isn't there a lot of evidence for evolution?
A: Not really, most of it is from university professors writing papers for each other. If they didn't write papers they wouldn't have jobs.
