I have had several card readings and some of it has come true.

I been to a Spiritualist Church and again some of it has come true.

I do believe in this. It does fascinate me though but do you think some of the things you are told 'conditions the mind' to look out for these things?

And the opposite to what I am asking I had my cards read last year and I said to a friend 'If she can nail something or fact that has happened to me then I will believe in this'
One of the first things I was told was 'You have been talking about or thinking about using lavender oil recently'
The day before this I bought some lavendar oil to help me sleep better.

Any answers appreciated and personal stories.

****Any abuse on this subject and you will be reported****

Both of my folks used to do tarot readings professionally (face to face, not the crummy premium phone call ones) and they would agree with you to a certain extent. One thing they used to say was that "forewarned is forearmed". In otherwords, if you are aware of a potential situation before it happens, you are likely to be able to deal with it in a much stronger position.

As with most things, there are charlatans out there.
As with most things, there is talent out there.

Tarot is not just reading the cards, there is also reading the person. The tarot cards are just a tool to make this easier.

I can read a person, but with the cards it gives me more direction. It provides the starting points and visual stimulation to add to or redirect the reading.

If someone comes for a reading and is all closed and non-believing it takes quite some effort to get through their barrier of disbelief. As I don't charge for readings, I will often not bother. I don't see it as my job to convert someone to believe in me and my abilities. I'll just tell them there is nothing to be learnt from the cards today.

The main thing you need to decide is 'Is this person a charlatan?' Are they just in it to skim some $$ from your wallet/purse? or are they going to give you a true reading?

Not everything comes true from a reading, that is exactly the point. For-warned is for-armed. Only you can change your future. You will be on the lookout for that bus, you may subconsciously avoid bus stops and main roads. Just because you don't get hit by it, doesn't mean you wouldn't have.

I think when you were told about that lavander oil stuff, maybe you smelled of that lavander, which would explain the statement that was given to you.

If Lavander oil is something commonly used for 'sleep aid', if you have spoken of this, to someone who reads those cards, then maybe it was just coincidence.

I think what a large part of these tarot card readings base their information on is a common ground of what people are seeking, and a 'generalized' view of what most people would do, considering their circumstance, when approaching a tarot card reader.

I would use extreme caution when using these tarot card readers as a resource for what you are looking for, when needing some advice or answers on something in your life.

I have heard many stories about people who go to these readings and have asked certain questions, and wanted specific answers, but in my opinion, I could have given the same answers, based on their question, by how they asked the question.

If these readings are based on the 'reader/visionary' telling you something about yourself, they are trained to look for some object or reading you, by your appearance, on how they would address certain issues about you, that may seem obvious by the way you carry yourself, the questions you ask, or how you respond.

Just know that "if it's too good to be true, then it most likely is".

Not sure what constitutes abuse on this subject... but I don't abuse people even if I strongly warn them about what they do.
I respect every person's right of belief and choice and the right to disagree with me or agree as they see fit. Each person is so very precious to God... even the mediums who misguide so many- are greatly beloved.

Assuming that someone truly has a psychic "gift", it is my experience that this gift stops operating when I take authority over it in the name of Jesus. I have personally experienced this.

It has to be asked, why would that have any stopping effect if it comes truly as a heavenly gift? Divine authority only has effect over the realm of evil spirits, thus, I warn, regarding tarot, ouijah boards, seances, crystal balls, astrology, astral-projection, divination of any kind. Familiar spirits are those that watch and observe closely and can accurately report present or past private facts to the medium who summons them (whether he or she knowingly communicates with such spirits or whether they believe they genuinely are communing with ascended masters, spirit guides, angels, etc.)

Regarding future predictions: these are not forseen- but are equivalent to a fair bet satan makes- believing he can "pull it off" if he has the belief of the person behind it. He makes the "prediction", then demons, released by virtue of persons having ignored the warning written by God in Scriptures, get busy trying to make it happen. They are often successful and the person is convinced... deceived, but convinced. The devil don't play nice or fair... but fair warning was written down and survives dozens of centuries to this very day- the best selling book of all time... the Holy Bible. I welcome your response, if any.

Bad idea in general!

Here is an article of mine explaining my opposition to the occult|
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Feng Shui!
---------------

Feng Shui is the ancient art of furniture placement in a room or house to
maximize "chi" or the "good vibes" in a place|

However, there is a serious problem with that, and no Christian should practice
it|

It is because it belongs to the domain of the *occult.*

Now Feng Shui is based upon a truth - a profound truth!

That is what makes it so deadly|

It is based upon the truth that there is a meaning and an effect associated with
the arrangement and pattern of *everything|*

However, this *science of pattern* is a science that far exceeds the *normal*
human capacity of understanding|

We are not to be involved in that unless we know what we are doing|

Now what the occult is, is observing snippets and fragments of that science and
then attempting to exploit pattern for your own knowledge or gain (e.g. Tarot
cards, Palm reading, Astrology, Tea Leave Reading. etc. do this)|

That stuff is not fake| It is deadly real|

It exploits the science of pattern for the sake of power or inner knowledge of
the practitioner|

Now the pure spirits (both good and bad) have a grasp of this science of
pattern|

The good angels utilize it discretely for our benefit, but the bad angels will
play the practitioner of the occult like a violin who dabbles in it|

Dabbling in the occult always destroys the intellect and the will|

That is why someone long practiced in witchcraft or sorcery becomes *retarded*
in his or her own way in time|

Now with Feng Shui, a person *forces* pattern in an environment, while
ironically not knowing what he is really doing|

It is like putting a child at the controls of a nuclear reactor|

That is why any place that practices it, has *something* of a good feeling to it
- but at the same time, it is subtly icky and fake|

Anyways, just to give you the low-down on it|

The amazing thing about Catholicism is that an *infinite deductive science* can
proceed from it|

In fact, vast systems of science can proceed from it|

With the Catholic Faith, there is an infinite ocean of truth to explore|||

Tarot readings are not actually intended to predict the future. The purpose in a tarot reading is to learn more about yourself in the present time. If someone told you they were reading your future, it was a hoax. If you believe the reading came true, it was either a coincidence or a fraud.

I play with tarot cards all the time. I sometimes do palm readings as well. I have had no ill effect of doing either. To me it just pure superstition. But, that is pov. To me it is quite entertaining. It is kinda of like playing solitaire.

Lavender has a very recognizable scent that remains pungent for a long time...

I use the book of Taro for many things but not to foretell the future.

I am definitely into things of the mind... a psychonaut I be.
