when ever I mention to my mom why I believe in a God above that listens and cares for me she says I'm just wasting my time. I want to her to know the same joy I have, but she is soooo resistent to even listening to anything I have to say. I know she believes in God but doesn't really understand what the bible says about bearing fruit after coming to God and excepting all he offers.

I was listening to George Carlin's rant about the 10 commandments. Funny-ness aside, I think he has a point.

Suggesting that 'thou shall not commit adultery' and 'thou shall not covet thy neighbour's wife' could both be combined into just one for example, into:

'Thou shall always be faithful'

That most definitely works. It puts across the exact same message and implications, but with fewer words so it's easier to remember and follow.

How can a mere man, like George Carlin, come up with a more efficient way of doing things then God? Surely God would have realised he could have cut them down himself (knowing everything).

I saw a movie "David and Goliath" that stared Orson Wells. About the only thing it got right was that David killed Goliath with a sling.

For errors it had lightning killing the women who was going to be David's wife, the jews in control of Jerusalem, and the Temple was build, and Saul killed his leading General. Just to name a few.

I am asking because of this response (and I use that term charitably) to atheist author Sam Harris that depicts atheists as shallow, empty-headed elites with money to burn. You can fast-forward to the end if you like.

ok so i always hear ppl say when someone dies oh he/she is in a better place. or they are still here with u. stuff like that. i was just wondering everyone elses opinion on this. when u die do u t hink u go straight to heaven? or does ur spirit stick around. also in the bible it says and all of the dead will rise and come with me to heaven. so does noone go to heaven until the world ends? i am reliously confused someone help me.?

I hate sports televised, I think they are a waste of time. But I understand it is big business and many people find it entertaining. But I cannot stand when the pastor talks about a game from the pulpit. I come to Church to get away from worldly distractions, not to hear about them.

It is really hard for me to understand the answers I get here, they all seem to contradict something..if God doesnt want us to kill people why would he put a child of his own on earth to be killed? He knew it was going to happen. If I did that to my ex-boyfriend...say I took him into a bad neighborhood and said he was a cop...because I knew theyd kill him.. Id go to hell right? But in my eyes Id be saving other women from his torment. So, what makes it different? Shouldnt he set the example of the behavior he expects from me? If he doesnt believe in his own word, why should I?
