As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labour. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you. What does this mean

Okay for arguement's sake let's say Jesus was perfect. Now no man or woman will ever be perfect, so why even bother? Why not just live your life the best you can, helping people as much as you can, and generally just trying to be a positive force on a negative society. If the goal is to be perfect, your life will be used up in futility. I do not strive to be perfect, I can make improvements in my life, but I'd rather do that for me, my friends, my family, my city, my country, my world, and not because I should be like Jesus. I think I missed the part in the Bible where Jesus said to be like him, but I do remember the part where he said to love your neighbour like yourself. So really why is there so much hate today? Not just from Christians, but since there are 2.1 billion Christians, shouldn't we be getting closer to a peaceful world?

The moral is be yourself, and be the best you can person you can be. Don't strive for perfection, because you'll only end up falling short everytime.

Or, have you simply seen the results? Without using the results of the wind, prove that the wind exists.

Have you ever seen a cancer cell? If you say yes, you are fibbing. There is no such thing. How do you know a person has cancer?

I read that there was a slaughter of hundreds of thousands of religious people by an atheist ruling party in France following the revolution. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

This man claims to be Jesus. He thinks that Jesus is integrated into him. He has millions of followers willing to do anything for him. Why wouldn't your god smite him? Or at least whisper to his followers that they shouldn't believe this nutcase?

Or if they have enough faith in him, does that really make him Jesus?

Do you think that having a religious belief (no matter what kind) requires abstract thinking?

It seems to me overly siimplistic to reject religion. And that maybe people who readily reject it aren't able to appreciate the abstract nature of it.

It's kind of like a rock song. You can hear the rock song and think nothing. Or you can really -hear- the song and see the layers of instrument and the wonderfully harmonius nuance laden lyrics. And when you -really hear- the song, you know the meaning. You will try to describe it to others, but unless they listen to it with an open ear, they will never hear it. I think religion is kind of like that.

What do you think?

How many of you non-believers have met somebody that you know is a christian and just been blown away and realized that they have something you want? I know that I've met quite a few people like that and i love to see Christ shine through them. But on the other side of it... so many of us "Christians" don't love people the way that we're taught to by the Lord and there's something wrong with that in my opinion. We shouldn't be scaring people away from a life with Christ we should be welcoming them and all of their imperfections (which we ALL have) with open arms!

Cake is evil and I declare that anyone who eats of it shall suffer of it with unseemly wide bottoms and gravity itself will be thine enemy!

From this day forward, Ice Cream alone is the only permissible dessert until the Dairy Queen return to reclaim it's creamy delicious child.

---
proceed to argue over flavors, ingredients, additives, preservatives of the sacred Ice Cream and form a splinter religion that declares Ice Cream is the real Cake and Cake is the real Ice Cream and only the Ice Cream lovers can return to the Dairy Queen ad infinitum. ad nauseum.

amen.

(meanwhile, the Sacred Cow, who is most high and Creator of the Ice cream and Chef Boyardee, the creator of the Cake, has made a Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake that is too big for herself to eat so she makes more cows like herself to enjoy it, but spins it in a blender so that the little cows won't know it until they eat all parts of it and then decide for themselves if they want ice cream, cake or chef or Cow.)
