For believers -- does it never bother you to just accept that "things don't make sense?" Does it never bother you not to understand things about your faith? Is it ever not enough to just assume that god is in control?

Or, are they okay and it's mainly Christianity that you don't accept?

Every sociological phenomenon is effected by the climate and geography in which it emerges. For example, baseball (which is relatively slow-paced) emerged where it's too hot to play continuous-running games duirng mid-summer.

What elements of any of the three Abrahamic Faiths reflect the desert climate and geography of the Middle East where they were "born"?

(Feel free to comment on faithe effects with which you are fairly familiar.)

Since it would seem equally possible that a.) God and matter could both have always existed and since it would also seem equally possible that b.) God and matter could have brought themeslves into existence or that God could have brought the matter in the universe into existence, why don't atheists say that a and b are both equally possible?

Based upon the aforementioned that both a and b are equally possible (a 50/50 situation), atheists should rather be agnostics and say that a Supreme Being (God) may exist and that they just don't know if he does?

There is tangible proof that the Holocaust took place, yet there are still people that deny its existence.

It wouldn't matter if there was "proof" or not that God exists, it is possible that people would still deny the Existence.

That said, here is my modest attempt...

We live in a temporal world - there is a beginning and an end to all things. Here is where the paradox occurs in the theory that there is no God - what was before the beginning? If there was something before the beginning, then what was before that?

The only logical conclusion is that there is something OTHER than a temporal realm - something Non-Temporal - an existence outside of time... an Absolute and Infinite Existence.

There is a theory of infinite velocity. Very simply explained, when infinite velocity is reached, one could occupy every corner of the universe at the same time. You would be able to see the future and the past all at the same time.

It makes sense that there would be something "infinite" out there, that could occupy everything at once and be in any "time" at once, because IT exists out of time. IT IS Existence.

So, we must conclude that Existence, in and of itself is Good and can only be capable of Good. Consequently, anything that tries to defy Existence would be "Evil." (namely, Satan) - but that is for another discussion.

Since we are living in a temporal world, the temporal existence has a beginning and an end, and therefore must have a Creator. The only possible creator is Infinite Existence itself - God.

From this, we can conclude that God is a sentient Being, capable of Creating anything and Doing anything and what comes from God can only be "Good" as Existence itself can only be Good.

Does this prove God's existence? I don't know...

There are many things in my life that have "proven" His existence. They are personal and are different for every individual. To me, they have been concrete, but for others, they could easily dismiss my experiences as mere coincidence, freakish events, or even my imagination.

As for scientific exploration, all scientific evidence that people have presented, trying to claim deny His existence, only confirms my belief that He DOES exist. The scientific evidence on evolution and the theories that have come about are ALL possible with an Absolute Creator. On the contrary, there are plenty of scientific theories that would be impossible Without a Creator.

If God is Existence, then everything He created comes from Him and from nowhere else. What is even more astounding is (if you believe in the Bible) is that God has made us in His own image and likeness. That means, unlike the animals of the world, we have a special closeness with God than nothing else has. We can have a relationship with God because He is everything and everywhere. In our every action and every word, we can be communicating with God.

I used to wonder why, if God wanted to have a relationship with us, he wouldn't just come down and verbally "talk" to everyone. But He does! That's the beauty of it. Verbal "Language" is what we do with each other - but there are SO many other ways of communicating that we don't often think about and that many of us partake in on a daily basis. If God is Everything, than He can communicate in ANY manner - through a thought, a touch, music, a sunset, ANYTHING! Just in our everyday life, every action and thought we do and have, good or bad, we are communicating with God and likewise, He is communicating with us - although it is not always in the way we are expecting or hoping.

Again, does this prove God exists? Well, define "prove." If "proving" means getting everyone to agree on the same exact thing without a shadow of a doubt, then I hardly think so. I hardly expect my long-winded response to suddenly "prove" God's existence and unite the world ;-) This is (a very small part of) my reasoning of God's existence. I could continue on in great detail my thoughts and experiences, but from fear of boring you all to death, I feel I must refrain.

Anyway, this is my "proof." Analyze away! :-)

who has the power of forgiviness? who has the final decision of forgiviness?

note: please don't tell me Jesus is God and then says he is the son of God, because that completely makes no sense at all.

When I got married I became a seventh-day adventist, though I was brought up as a baptist. Through the years my wife and I stopped going to church. We still concider ourself christians. My mother-in-law died last year and my siter-in-law started gojng back to the church. She has started to say if we don't go to church we won't see "mom" when Christ returns, we are only christions if we attend chruch. Last thing is that we found this week our 8 year was molested, and my two daughters had to be voluntarily taken away from us because the molester lives near by. She said "if you had God in your life this would not happen." What do you think?. I feel all this is not biblical and feel very hurt by these comments.

There are 247 references to wine and strong drink in the Bible. 40 negative, 62 that are neutral and 145 that are positive. Jesus made nearly 200 gallons of wine for a party in Cana after the participants had already "well drunk." Obviously drunkenness and addiction should be avoided, but I can find no scriptural reason to believe that any alcohol drinking is sinful in every instance.

You say God is All Powerful.
God is All Knowing.
God is Benevolent.
God is the Creator.

But Satan... my, how did he ever come into existance?

According to a good portion of you, Satan was originally Lucifer, who revolted against God and was sent into Hell.

Now, God hadn't seemed to be anticipating this. But isn't he All Knowing? And if Satan is evil, why would God create something that is evil, or that would turn evil without ANY OTHER INFLUENCE? Why not just destroy Satan?

Please, feel free to answer this. I'm highly intrigued to learn your logic.

Ah, and every Christian on here that doesn't answer lacks trust in their faith, without a doubt.

some Christians often accuse people who don't believe in God of thinking they are "high and mighty" and self-absorbed or self-serving, when they are the ones who think their beliefs are so special that they have a VIP pass to an exclusive country club in the sky?... and everyone else is going to burn up in hell?
