everything in moderation.
except during Lent, then we (Catholics) have to abstain from meat - although fish is fine. It's funny, because the rule was put in place for the laiety to sacrifice something, but most of my friends and I use it as an excuse to have sushi on Fridays.
Personally, I think it's just a way to keep fishermen in business, since most of the Apostles were fishermen.

The restrictions on pork consumption had to be dropped when they started converting Germanic tribes as that was a major source of food for them and they wouldn't have gone over from Nordic and Celtic beliefs if it would result in hunger. Pork spoils without smoking and often carries trichinosis, especially in warmer climates. Cured pork lasts for years in China. Meatless Fridays and fasting before cannibalistic rituals still exist today in come Christan sects. Then there are restrictions associated with alcohol which came about as a result of wide spread alcoholism during the period 1650-1900.

Hey Mr barritone Mr.Hasse has it right .Leviticus tells us that we are not to eat the animals that God has put here to clean the dead carcasses off the earth. Wolves, bears,vultures.etc. It also includes bottom feeding fish with no scales or without fins. Breaking these laws are not sins unto death but we should still avoid them after all he knows what makes us tick. Some people will tell you that the new testament voids the law of Leviticus but it isn't true.

Christians follow the Bible, so they should eat according to what the Bible states. There is very little food related info in the New Testament though, so it's pretty much the same as what proper food is for Jews according to what is stated in the Old Testament. If in doubt, ask your priest, depending on your particular religion (Catholic, Protestant, Morman, etc...) there may be rule changes made after the New Testament.

Depends on the denomination. During Lent specifically, Catholics and those demoninations closer to Catholicism abstain from meat on Fridays. Most Protestants don't.
These aren't hard-and-fast rules, just generalities about common practice.

No red meat on Fridays during Lent. That's strictly for the Catholics, though. I used to be a Catholic so I used to have to go through that. It ticked me off, too. We'd have pizza night every Friday and we'd NEVER get pepperoni during Lent.
I've started to notice that fast food marketing trends take on a big "fish fish fish" angle the closer to Lent it gets. Arby's is really on the ball this year. I remember last year the fish commercials were a little racy... they involved a woman wearing fishnet stockings, very come hither, and her husband reacting by rushing out to Arby's for fish sandwhiches. I thought it was an odd strategy considering it was meant to entice CATHOLICS to eat fish.

I believe the laws of clean and unclean in Leviticus are still relevant. If you have a varied diet of fruits and vegetables and grains, with a few nuts, you will do very well, unless you slide into a very boring diet.

The BIBLE does not tell us about earthly food except that we need to read, study, and obey GOD's WORD. We are told that the first century church members went house to house studying GOD's WORD. HIS WORD is all that we need. Spiritual Blessings are in the Word of GOD. Christ died so that we might live eternally with HIM. Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. HEAR - Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
2. BELIEVE - In Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
3. REPENT - Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4. CONFESS CHRIST - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
5. BE BAPTIZED - Romans 6:3-4 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
6. CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

EDIT... The Jewish people and Catholics do not eat certain foods or do so on special days. There is NO COMMAND told to Christians in the BIBLE.

you are not prohibited any foods. but there are dietary restrictions in the bible for the isrealites in the old testament. fish must have scales, no cloven hooved animals, and nothing that is already dead when you find it. there is also the daniel fast which is kind of outlined in the book of daniel. good luck
