ok, this question is for extreme right-wing westerners. Unlike moderate conservatives like George Bush (who believe america can win the heart and souls of muslims and reform the islamic world), you believe that islam is inherantly violent and evil. yet islam is the religion of a billion men women and children in almost every part of the world...so how can it be eradicated...especially when anyone, even a white guy can just convert to islam and be a radical. islam is all races...its not always visible...and its spread out in all areas...its not centralized...and any attempt to kill them all will just radicalize more so, either prove you can eradicate islam while leaving the west intact, or tell how else to deal with islam. if it can't be dealt with and is destined to conquer the world, then why would you even try to oppose something that is un-opposable??

If it did heal, why would God use what appears to be a lottery system to work miracles?

Well, I've been in a few of the "evangelical" churches and found it ironic. When there has been an "altar call", why is there no alter to call them too? All that is typically up there is a podium or lecturn.

LUKE 17:2, MARK 9:42, and MATT 18:6
Jesus said if anyone harms a child it would be better for him to have a millstone tied around his neck and be cast into the sea. A millstone was so large that it usually took at least two or three men to move it. If one had that tied around his neck and was thrown into the sea he would drown for sure!

I truely believe this. Less educated people tend to hold on to religion and tradition, but when a person becomes educated, they are able to look at issues in different ways and see issues from other people's points-of-view.

For example, look at the Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq killing each other. You think they are educated? No way. The educated ones are the ones who realize that the fighting doesn't solve anything.

I know most would say, they just want to be "well off", but middle-class in the west is "rich" by the world's standard.

I have no doubt that religion served a purpose once: it "civilized the savages", was a repository for information, and helped people have something to live for during bleak times.

However, now it seems like people in the Western World have very little interest in it anymore, while some people in the Middle East have hijacked their religion to make it do their evil bidding.

Would the world be better off without religion?

In teaching your toddler right from wrong and that it is wrong to bite, how do you use God to show that this is wrong?

I'm looking for some method that couldn't be used exactly the same way by an atheist, but without the God part. For example, do unto others as you would have them do unto you could just as easily be an atheist ideal.

Do you use one?
What type of fabric is it?
What color and why?

Also, where can I find some tasteful cloths? I've been looking around and can only find really cliche, black spiderwebb-y ones..
I'm looking for white or silver. I may make my own, but I'm unsure of what fabric to use...

Thanks for your answers.

they don't mention jesus much. I'm okay with the situation, but sometimes I kind of feel like a liar, but I don't have any other options in our small town. I really do feel connected to god when I go to church, but i forego things like communion, etc. Is this wrong? if so, what other options should i pursue? Bible beaters need not answer

My best friend moved to England about 4 years ago, and yesterday he called. In the middle of discussing British food (lol) he brought up the fact that lots of the old churches he used to know are now being used as pubs and restaurants, simply because no one could afford to restore them.

Isn't it ironic how the fate of a religion is so deeply determined by money?

If the Bible has no flaws, doesn't that set it against God, who also is said to have no flaws?

Since language shifts through the centuries, how is it that something as fluid as language can convey anything without flaws? (E.g., the word "nice" used to mean "stupid." Now it means "pleasant and personable.")

Why, then, is the doctrine of "biblical inerrancy" not the same thing as "Bible Worship?"

Jesus is son of God
Consider the inductive relation
God = Son of God ........(1)
=> God = Son of (Son of God) .............(2) [using (1)]
=> God = Son of(Son of God) ............and so on..

What's the logic?

In a recent group of answers regarding evolution I read things like this:

"Evolution has been scientifically disproven time after time. Remember, it is only a theory, not a science, it is taken by faith and is a religion."

"can u really be comfortable with the fact that we came from dirt.
that is seriously disturbing. Praise Be To God. " (from someone claiming evolution is wrong, no less)

"If we were evolved from monkeys (which is just totally laughable) there would no longer be monkeys."

" I don't know all about your ancestors, but mine didn't swing from a tree."

"I believe in GOD. we did not come from monkeys.Lol "

"Evolution isn't proven. It's still a theory."

So I have to ask where do people learn this stuff? Is this being taught to people by their churches?

If you believe those things can you tell us where you learned them?

Can someone please cite one thing that 'scientifically disproves' evolution?
