They certainly connect. Existentialism is a key piece of both religion and psychology. And... If a psychologist works with someone who is grieving a death, why would that persons faith not be a part of their grief and healing?

Compatibility does not mean subjugation in either perspective.

Many religions dislike psychology because psychology encourages rational thought and deciding for oneself, rather than accepting dogma.

When a person is a Christian psychology does play a part in their lives as it does in everyones. A Christian psychologist is called a pastor. When I go to a psychologist its a Dr. And psychologically they study the same subjects and do the same work. You need to understand that Christianity is a psychological based religion. It appeals to the soft and good parts of a person to be the main characteristics by setting a rule mandating certain behaviors for salvation. Pavlov gave his dog food, God gives you salvation-psychologically the same thing. There is no way to take religion out of psychology because the very clients bring thier religion with them like the proverbial backpack of sins.

I do apologize as I meant to say a pastor or priest.

Psychology is serious business. These folks are messing with our minds, they could unknowingly damage our spirit. A great person in Gods service is one who counsels in the image of Christ.

Why should Christianity have a role to play in a branch of medicine? I regard Christianity as nothing and nothing has no role or purpose whatsoever.
