He's COMPLETELY different then what we thought He was. The Bible was just changed so drastically, that things God said could have been changed to such a degree that they ment exactly the opposite of what they where supposed to?

I have always wanted to know, if God hears you no matter where you pray and forgives your every sin, why is it people are looked down on for not going to church.. It seems to me that God would be happy as long as we are worshipping him, no matter where we do it. I choose not to attend church, because they seem more about sinners, and giving your money than really on worshipping. Maybe I have been the wrong churches.
I'm not looking for bible verses etc. I just weant to know what everyone elses thoughts are and if I am alone in wondering why would it matter where you worship or how you do it, if you do it?

If you were going to follow in the footsteps of Bobby Henderson and create your own deity and doctrine of beliefs as a method of convincing your state not to include intelligent design in public school curriculum ... what would you make up? Who would be the creator? And what's the creation story?

the word "truth." Which is the truth? Catholicism, Protestant, Taoism, Satanism, christian, Methodist, or Episcopalian? Specifically, the only proof of truth is found in the bible, and people use the bible to prove the bible.

Science, however, uses stem cell research, carbon dating, DNA, the molecules, atoms, quarks and strings that are the very stuff of the universe to explain the beginning of the universe, how a brain ticks, and the origins of pretty much everything.
Genesis only says "in the beginning..." and the bible says miracles happened.... and that's it.

Which is true, which is delusion, and which should be followed by the high-number masses?

I personally find it quite disturbing that many of the mindless sheep who make up the vast majority of Americans base their votes on what religion a candidate is. Dubya was a nice Chrisitan boy, and look what he got us into.

Would you mindless sheep please stop wrecking my country?

Here is a scientific article that just appeared on Yahoo news. Any christians wish to knash their teeth and provide some doubletalk to put this idea down. And of course you are welcome to wish me an eternity in hell.

A half-hour ago, I asked a question about how far back Christians' spiritual heritage stretched before reaching Roman Catholic roots.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AslsHyscKuMgyx8.uf.4Z93sy6IX?qid=20070212164826AAEOVwz

Most people by-passed it all together, even though from the 4th century CE until the 15th century CE, the primary European Church was Roman Catholic.

That's 1000 years of church history, about half of the existence of Christianity on the face of the earth.

How can such a vessel be ignored, when it carried the faith for a millennium? Why the shame over the Roman Catholic heritage?

I'm looking to buy a new bible, but I'm wondering what translation to get. I'd really like something that's more of an "academic" or "scholarly" translation, unbiased and accurate (no matter the implications for Christianity), that sort of thing.

Are there any versions that are appended with archeological evidence to support or refute certain stories (e.g. how many people were actually likely to be involved in the Exodus), or footnotes mentioning similar stories in other mythologies (e.g. Noah's flood and Gilgamesh)?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated--thanks!

I am 17. I chose Islam because i was given the English translation of the Quran from someone. It was the most beautyful peaceful book i ever read in my life and i then knew Islam is the true religion. It made alot of sense. I used to watch news and see it giving a very bad image of Islam. I talked to loads of people and everything was so confusing so i gave up until i was given the Quran. I just like to say you don't judge a religion by the actions of human beings. You look at the religion itself. You'll be amazed to look at Islam religion. Then i think no wonder Islam is fastest growing religion in the world.

There's a Swedish girl in our class, and for her American Studies report she wrote about the effects of America's religious ignorance (she got an A-, even though our teacher is Catholic ^_^)

Her essay got me thinking.

Do you think America is too ethno-centric? Why or why not? Is it one of the reasons for being scorned by other countries so much?

Do you personally think it is your job to talk to others about Christ and true christian living? Is it better to just be an example of purity (through grace of course) or actually talk it over with others? I see so many Christian bands going mainstream but seem to not outright evangelize but just try to live the example ie Switchfoot, Relient K etc.
