I am not a Christian myself ,but I figured that Christains had some kind of standards like trust,a work ethic and respect for others property.Well my last Christain Family just moved out and trashed the house.I am going to rent to some filipinos. They seem to be more trustworthy.
Do you blame me if I dont rent to Christain families again?

I mean, I understand believing it as a child- like Santa Claus- but once you've gone to college and been out in the world around different types of people, how can you still believe?

Quran 8:39 “and fight with them until...religion should be only for allah "http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/008.qmt.htmlhttp://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/008.qmt.html

Yep, thats authentic Quran...dont take my word for it, just read the Quran yourself, from whatever sources you think are "legit".

Hey, but what if this is real Quran and I didnt makeit up? Whoa buddy...its pretty clear...isnt it? I mean, this is ouright genocide. Plain and simple, is it not?

Fight everyone until Islam rules the earth. I mean, thats the plain plain plain consequence of this clear edict.

Oh, by the way, read about the infamous and historical expression "House of Islam and house of war". Yep, you guessed it, thats just the label given to this doctrine. There are two domains in the world, Islam and lands yet to be conquered for Islam (house of war).

Geee...isnt it weird that almost all armed conflict worldwide is Islamic? Hmm...

A thousand years is but an instant? There’s nothing new, nothing different? The same pattern over and over? The same clouds, the same music, the same insight I felt an hour or an eternity ago? There’s nothing here for me now, nothing at all? Now I remember? This happened to me before? This is why I left? You have begun to find your answers? Although it will seem difficult, the rewards will be great? Exercise your human mind as fully as possible, knowing it is only an exercise? Build beautiful artifacts, solve problems, explore the secrets of the physical universe, savor the input from all the senses, feel the joy and sorrow, the laughter, the empathy, compassion and tote the emotional memory in your travel bag? I remember where I came from and how I became a human, why I hung around, and now my final departure is scheduled? This way out? Escaping velocity? Not just eternity, but infinity?

Does this practice tick any of you off? I was looking at a part of my family tree on rootsweb.com and noticed that someone took the liberty of baptizing some of my very catholic and dead family members. I just think it's extremely irrelevant to baptize someone who is dead and I also think that it's just plain insulting to all of us who are non-mormon and don't believe in silly things like "celestial heaven". I don't think mormons would like it very much if they were baptized a different faith after they passed. I try to be open minded about things but I just can't rationalize something like this.

2 Jehovah's Witnesses came to my home when I was away. They told their stuff in a friendly manner. And my simpleton mom just said "yes" and "oh".
The 2 folks also literally SHOWERED my mom with books, bibles, magazines, and tracts. They then set "rigid" times when they can come over.

I, along with my family (parents, sister, little brother) are staunch Protestant Christians. We are very strong in our faith.
We are immigrants to America and we don't know how to deal with these situations. We know a lot of stuff about the JW and are familiar with their teachings (which we have staunchly rejected).

So these 2 folks (elderely woman, and an older teen) came to our house today (thanks to my simpleton mom's appointment) and they talked.

They "tried" to fix another appointment but we just managed to exchange phone numbers and told them we will call them back when we have the convenient time. That won't hold for long. So fellow Christians, how should I tell them respectfully to go?

What if we choose our own afterlife by what we believe...Christians go to heaven, Buddhists reincarnate, and so on. Why not? If so, which afterlife would you choose?

It was asked before, and the overwhelming response was that you know a Christian by their good works, their "fruits".

But I just read an answer that said you are saved by the grace of Jesus, not by any good deeds. (And years of bible camp have me singing, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us..."

So how do we know? Evil people have claimed to be Christian, only to have it said of them, "Oh, they weren't a TRUE Christian -- not if they lived their life like that and committed those evil acts." But if it is through Jesus' grace that they are Christian, the only people who would know for sure are that person and Jesus, right?

I am one confused atheist tonight.

Why?

After all, it is a part of their religion.

Quran 9:29 “fight (jihad) those who believe not in allah” http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/009.qmt.html

"Thats an extremist interpretation".

Oh yea, how do you know and why would it even matter if it was? You dont really know if it is an extremist interpretation do you...be honest.

If religious freedom is an absolute, then we have a real problem here...dont we stupid naive weak pathetic leftist americans?

Interpretation is relative anyway right? I mean, each person will give you a totally or slightly different explaination for each an every savage verse in the Quran.

Quran 8:12 “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.

Sure, some Muslims will try to tell you that "this doesnt apply today". Heck, you might even have a rare Muslim who is not only telling to you, but really believe it and says so to other Muslims.

You atheists want proof of the existence of God - well it is a matter of knowing - like: Can you prove that you slept last night??
or is it just something you know - within.

They were talking about how Atheists are the most mistrusted group in this country. On Paula Zahn they had a panel of three, one was an Atheist. The Christian man asked the Atheist, where they got their morals from since Christians get theirs from god and the bible.

I know where we get them from, our evolution. Before religion, life still cared for one another. An alligator will carry the eggs of her offspring in her mouth for miles, for protection. A simple survival trait. The more offspring you have, the better your chances of for survival. We take care of each other before we are the same species. Not from what a book tells you.
