In WW1 the British had "Dieu et Mon Droit" (For God and my right) on their belt buckles. The Germans had "Gott mit uns" (God's with us). On behalf of their God they then went on to butcher each other. Total casualties; British 3 million, Germans 7 million. Between 1969 and 2001 3,500 people were killed in Northern Ireland. Why? Because of a centuries old conflict; Martin Luther didnt like papism, Henry 8th wanted to shag around and because William of Orange wanted Ireland for England. Greed avarice and lust... Then there's David Koresh, the Rev Jim Jones, The Children of God with their paedophiles...im just waiting for Tom Cruise to go apeshit as the messiah of the Church of Scientology. Thats just the Christians! We've got Shiites murdering Sunnis which has been going on since a power struggle over Mo's succession in 680 (without any help from us), Al-Qaeda with their old Jihad and that, Aum Shinrikyo with their Sarin (and nukes apparently!). So i suppose my question is "WTF??!"

"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law." (1 Cor. 14:34)

Do you or your church adhere to this? Why or why not?

I have heard of this doctrine claiming that we should not listen to what the Apostle Paul wrote...

Why do they think this? Paul was called to be an Apostle by Chrst himself. Why doubt his teachings? especially since they tie in so well, and explain so well, Christs very own teachings.

He explains the need of the resurrectoion, how Christ could save us from our sins, and much much more... so why do they think he should be ignorred? is it because they dont want to hear what he has to say because the yknow its true, and if its true than they must change how they live?

Last night (Monday 2-5) I heard a male Christian singer sing a song called "The Anchor Holds". The program that he was on followed the Praise the Lord Movie on TBN. Can anyone out there tell me who the artist is. He is about 30 years old and has long blonde or light brown curly/wavy hair. I would like to get a copy of a CD that has his song on it. Thanks everyone.

Messiah. Before you, Christians jump to cry blasphemy (or abuse): dispute this statement in the context that when I asked earlier on that Jesus did not come on earth for anybody but Jews, Christians said the "Jews rejected him" and that was only after that rejection that he started preaching to the gentiles.

This is a serious question. I know pornography is discouraged in the Mormon faith, but is usually just mentioned when talking to the men, and that it could be destructive. But what if a couple wants to watch it together to add spice to their sex life (which is an important part of a relationship). Sex is meant to be an enjoyable and a bonding experience (in addition to the procreation thing), so what if it really helps? Hopefully I can get some genuine answers.

[I am an active Mormon and my wife is agnostic]

What does the Koran mean when it tells Muslims to "kill the infidels"? If it's taken out of context, how so? How is it meant to be in its real context?

(I'd prefer an actual Muslim to answer this, or a scholar of Islam).

so we all know lord of the rings and other similars stories are pure fiction right?? well what if way back when the bible, koran and other so called religious texts were written they were just stories made up at that time to be entertainment rather than belief systems. maybe thousands of years from now people will read our books and believe that they are telling factual stories

If so many don't care, then why are they so obsessed with the Christian church and it's teachings? So often I see the words "who cares" in their responses but it doesn't stop the flood of questions about why Christians this and why Christians that! People love controversy!

Hi folks. Was just wandering round YouTube, and came across a CNN report of families reportedly being 'persecuted' out of their towns for revealing they were atheists. Lot of statistics involved - apparently atheists are now less trusted in the US than any other minority group etc etc.

Never taking what the major news organisations say at face value, I'd like to hear from anyone who feels they've experienced Real World discrimination (not Y!A discrimination, which is fairly subjective) as a result of being openly atheist, or anyone who feels they're not able to BE openly atheist for fear of reprisal. I'm not trying to be incendiary here, just trying to gauge how far this is really a problem in the US. Thanks.
