who are actually seeking
do you look for information.. or are you happy to live content in your own beliefs ?

I know that in my beliefs
i actively seek out information that may help either confirm or eliminate some things for me
and i think that is quite a healthy attitude
anyone feel the same ?

CMW i asked the same question twice
once to atheists once to theists
to compare responses
you seem to have a problem with that
perhaps you should ask yourself why

I'm a lot like you, pangel. I seek out information and empirical evidence for my beliefs. I know that what I believe now is not what I believed 10 years ago.. I am constantly looking to grow spiritually.

Yes dear Pangle, we do exist. Religion is like politics for most part. You believe what you were raised to believe. I personally am on a quest for the truth. That requires study with an open mind. Not simply trying to reinforce preexisting beliefs.

Me!
I always find out new stuff, and like you I get rid of stuff here and there, or alter it. I agree it's a healthy attitude to have. If I just assumed I already knew everything I'd never learn more for one, and I wouldn't know everything because of that. It makes no sense to say you have all the answers.

You keep asking the same question. That's obsession. Maybe you should look into why you're obsessed with something you purport not to believe, like, you know, "actively seek out some information."

Back in my southern baptist days we were taught to accept the bible as the only tool/book/education you needed, to not question it and to not seek answers elsewhere. I'm not making that up...that's what we were told repeatedly. I felt guilty seeking answers and did quite a few library sneaks to do it...hoping no one from my church saw me. After I finally figured it all out, I left and was fully aware why they didn't want me to find out the truth.

I am that way too. That is why I am hesitant to give my beliefs a name like agnostic, because it seems once people label themselves, they spend more time trying to fit the label then learning new things.

Sure, the quest is eternal, never the destination, just the journey ~ for we never in this life truly know from where we came nor to where we go!

I'm a deist, i think we're meant to seek out information and come to our own conclusion about it all :-)

well once again it depends on who the person is as not all theists are the same way as some are way more openminded then others
