The new testament says that in all things be moderate. Don't get drunk. You can drink any beverage you wish as long as you don't think you are sinning. The wrong is in being drunk. Paul told Timothy to stop drinking just water and drink some wine for his stomach's sake. I don't know if Jesus drank wine, but he did turn water into wine, not just wine, the finest of wines according to the master of ceremonies of the wedding feast.

Relevance "wine wasn't alcahol then so it is ok"
I love that response from Christian Fundamentalists. You are sooooo wrong about that. Wine was absolutely alcaholic back then. There was no refrigeration back then. Therefore grape juice would go bad in 2-3 days, maybe even less in that hot climate. Firmented wine can last for months. Under your theory, there must have been thousands of vineyards all over the Roman Empire with plants that flowered at different times of the year to produce grapes year round. Then people would have to create grape juice every day? Doesn't make any sense, both biologically and economically.
Hate to break it to you, but according to the Bible, Jesus' first miracle was to keep a party going. Jewish weddings would last for several days, and people got wasted. The party goers even asked why the best wine was saved till last. The reason they asked that is weddings usually served the best wine first, while guests were sober and could appreciate a good wine. There is no point in saving the expensive, best wine for the end of the party when most of the people are too trashed to appreciate it.

Jesus did drink wine, according to the Bible. I've never seen anything in the Bible that said you couldn't drink wine. In fact a good wine can make a bad day a good day. Especially with some baked brie. http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,191,145184-234203,00.html
In the Us you must be 21 to drink wine. Jesus did say you shouldn't break the law. You if you are a follower of Jesus, don't break the law.
I'm a Pagan, pagans find that cakes and ale are great after ritual. Pagans invented wine and invented getting drunk too, then they invented the love child. That was a joke, ha ha.
The Greeks even had a God of wine, Dionysus. Invoke the God Dionysus and enjoy a nice glass of wine.

Matt11:19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, `Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." ' But wisdom is proved right by her actions."
From this verse it appears He ate and drank with the people of His day. But the Bible says He was without sin so I believe He did not overeat or drink too much wine. Evidently some people were getting drunk so the wine must have had an alcoholic content. From what I have heard much of the wine served with meals in Europe today does not have the alcoholic content we serve in the USA.

Yes, and yes. However, it is best to avoid it altogether. The first time I drank wine, I didn't think to myself "this is the first day of my life as an alcoholic." But guess what? I became one. There is no way to know ahead of time if you are going to be the kind of person that can have a drink or two once in awhile, or if you will end up like me- a drunk. (I finally had to give it up because it was causing me severe stomach pain the instant I took a swallow of booze- a HUGE blessing!) You won't know until it is too late- so don't do it. The same goes with cigarettes, gambling, porn, pot, whatever. The only way to be positive that you won't get addicted, is to never even try it.

I've been told that what is referred to as wine back in those days isn't the same as what it is today. However, I don't feel that there is anything wrong with an occasional glass of wine or even a mixed drink. Its all about moderation and not letting it control you .... or your life. Anything in our lives that comes before God is bad for us ... whether its alcohol, food, or a loved one. Its important to put things in their proper priority.
However, as Christians we have to understand that others are closely inspecting our lives. People want a reason to look down on us, call us fakes, and use us an excuse to persecute Christianity. If the same person who sees you having a couple of drinks on Saturday night sees you walking into church on Sunday morning ... you are more than likely going to be labeled a hypocrite.
So ... having an occasional glass of wine or cocktail with dinner? Sure. Going to the bar and having a couple of drinks? Probably not the best idea.

Jesus drank wine on several occasions. As for whether it's OK as long as you're not getting wasted, the Scripture does say somrthing to the effect that "A little wine is good for the infirmities of the stomach". Therefore in my humble opinion as long as no one is stumbling at my drink or being offended by it and as long as I'm not getting drunk, then I would imagine it's OK.

proverbs say that strong drink is raging wine is a mocker and whosoever is deceive by it is not wise there was a marriage in cana when Jesus turn the water into wine it does not indicate that he drink it. He was accuse of being a wine bibber the holy script say at the passover supper he drink the fruit of the vine there is no indication that it was fermented wine, proverbs say they that tarry at the wine will not be rich I have not seen where, as yet, where it is forbidden to drink wine. But the bottom line is, no one is to got himself wasted at wine or any strong drink at all. There is no indication that Jesus drink wine

There are a few different views on this, but from what I know -- you're on the right track. Yes, Jesus did drink wine. However his wine wasn't furmented, so it wasn't like drinking the wine we have today. It was more of a potent grape juice --
And drinking is not a sin -- However drunkenness is. I am a Christian, have been all my life - and I will drink from time to time. Nothing extreme, but I will enjoy a cocktail here or there. As long as you take care of your body (which is your temple) and control yourself.

Yes he did and yes you can. In Christianity the drinking of red wine in Church symbolizes the disciples drinking red wine at the last supper. When Jesus said "drink this, it is my blood shed for you for the forgiveness of sin".
Wine is good for you as long as you drink just a glass or two.
