what kind of reasoning is this? circular? does it really compute?

I will never forget asking my own sister one time what she did in church, and she said I would not understand. I said why and she said because...because why?

god is god

If the early church was heavily influenced by Jewish thought, and in Judaism to ask God to "remember" is to ask that He make present once again that, which was in the past (ie to ask God to remember his mercy of old is to ask him to make that same mercy manifest in the present), then how could Luther and other reformers claim that the sacraments, long celebrated by the Great Church and never questioned even by the heretics of the first centuries of Christianity, were nothing but outward symbols of faith and not mysteries given to us by Christ so that He might continue to make Himself and His salvation manifest for us today...? If in Matthew 28 there is the explicit command to baptize, and in John 3, there is the explicit statement that one must be reborn of water and the spirit, how could the reformers deny that even the scriptures point to rites that bring about the grace they signify (and not by man... but by the power of God working in His People)?

Are you happy there? happy with what you are doing? What do you do? What would you pick for your perfect job, if you could? I would probably be a writer. travel to small town areas, meet interesting people, . I'd give so much of all the proceeds I made from my books to help people ( starting with my own family members), Maybe even some of those interesting people I met along the way. Not using spellcheck here, so If I spelled anything wrong, whoops! That's what proofreaders are for. LOL

Okay, here goes. I'm told that when one takes Communion, the doctrine of transsubstantiation changes the Communion host into the body of Christ and the wine into His blood. While the outer appearance doesn't change, the underlying reality evidently changes.

According to this doctrine, the host would change into the body of Christ, which would be meat. The wine would change into blood.

Since Vegans are strict vegetarians, would this prohibit them from consuming transsubstantiated flesh and blood?

I thought I found a couple, but while saying they honor your choice/or no choice of faith, they don't accept homosexuals or other choices we make, cultures and lifestyles

any out there that are close? I thought Jesus' life showed lots of tollerance save the Roman occupation- but that wasn't so much about faith as it was Imperialism and Capitalism

Hi. The other night I suddenly became conscious during my dream and was aware of being touched all over my body by things that I couldn't see, I was only aware of the feeling. My body was paralyzed and I was terrified, I had to fight and claw myself back up into wakefulness. Does this sound like a dream? How could I be conscious whilst it was going on? Thanks. I was really frightened.

I am watching one of his videos right now. I do not wish to sound insulting, but I find this person to be very pompous. I thought I would try to see things from a Creationist view but I can not help but think that Mr. Hovind is quite unstable of a character. He seems more interested in mocking other Scientist than he is in explaining his theories, it seems as though he feels he receives more credit through his audience through belittling several fields of science than actually providing worthwhile information.

I will not say he is a liar, as it is evident he believes what he is saying, but clearly he has not researched a variety of sciences prior to preparing this lecture.

The video I am watching is here, I have only watched 20 mins so far but it is horrendous.

Again, I started watching this video with an open mind. It was not my goal to come to Y!A and ask this before I started viewing this video

These people at my bible class go & gossip to my former foster mother things about how they saw me on the street, dressed or how my hair looks, & then she comes & confronts me about it & yells @ me about it. I'm 23 yrs. old & a college grad, living on my own. & then, they read my blogs on MySpace & go back & tell her what I wrote about my day, & she comes back & fusses @ me for it. I moved to New York from New Orleans, & my foster mom knows that. I'm on my own now. They run up to her, saying, "Did you know Candy moved to New York?" Like I'm a child who ran away.

Those people should worry about their own souls, rather than the clothes that I have on, or what information I have posted on the internet. Our bible class teaches us to examine yourself before trying to judge others.

I know a few ex-christians and ex-catholics and alot of people who flounder around somewhere between buddhism, atheism and wicca.

What has your experience been like if you have traveled different roads?

(and I don't really mean a presbyterian who becomes a methodist - that's not a lifestyle change, it's just walking across the street...)
