When you die, you don't go, you stop.

Some people are so scared by this they made up stories about a magical fairy granting people eternal life.

We call these stories "religion".

I don't know where unbelievers go when they die.
I suspect that hell has not been created yet since the final Day of Judgment has not come. So I'm not quite sure where their souls reside.

Believers in Jesus Christ will go directly to heaven to be with God after they die.

Scripture is very clear. After death is the grave. In the grave you sleep until the resurrection. (Whether it is hours or centuries, it will seem a moment). Everyone will be either A) resurrected in the first resurrection,- to eternal life, or B) resurrected in the second resurrection, after which the people will acknowledge the justice of YHVH and then they will attack the city, and fire will come down and burn them up as it cleanses the world so YHVH can make it new, and very good. (Hell is the cleansing fire from YHVH which consumes sin and any sinners who choose to stay attached to their sins)

According to theosophical doctrine your consciousness goes to 'devachan' - a sort of heaven. It's a 'place' created by your highest thoughts and dreams. You get to rest there before you come back on earth into a new body and face your karma (bad and good).

My personal belief is that our conscious/soul goes to another dimension where all the other conscious/souls have gone before us.

I think just as we are dying a loved one who has gone before us escorts us to this other dimension & that's why dying people seem so happy and contented.

I believe, it depends on how you lived your life. that's sort of the meaning or purpose of life... to give us all a chance to show he who made us, how we will decide to live and treat others. Your (eternal) fate truly IS in your own hands! Anyway, that's how I think and live MY life. Everyone has the FREE WILL to decide for themselves.

You go nowhere. Death is the utter annihilation of the self. You completely cease to exist at that point.
