Cortez's use of Holy Water in baptizing infants. Hernán Cortés, Letters – available as Letters from Mexico translated by Anthony Pagden. You can go down to the library, do a database search (Lexis Nexis would probably have it). These are actually literal letters Cortés sent to the Vatican, asking for guidance in baptizing infants he would murder.

Pizarro's identical use of baptism pouches for slaying children under seven. Conquest of the Incas, John Hemming, 1973.

Both of these men were inquisitors acting on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church.

There is a verse in the Quran [5:72] that says that Christians (who believe that Jesus is the son of God) are considered infidels and they will go to hell.

Is there verses in the bible that tell that people of any other religions will also go to hell?

Questions:

1. How can we,the world, originate from nothing? It is impossible for nothing to create something. If it were possible, does that not classify as a supernatural phenomenon, anyway? How can the creation of the universe be explained without supernatural interference?

2. If the universe is eternal, why is it complying with the laws of thermodynamics? Thermodynamics shows us the sun is losing energy, earth's atmosphere is weakening, we die and the degenerative list goes on.

3.If evolution is true, then evolution is still active. It has no reason to suddenly stop. Humans have been on earth for thousands of years in our present form. Why haven't we evolved again?
How long does it take for a species to evolve into another?

4. We have limits as to how high we can jump and how fast we can run. Knowing that we have limits, why is it hard to imagine that our mind can't grasp God, who is limitless.

5.God is morality. If there is no God, how can really any true law exist

Evolution..Science....both have so much evidence of the history of life and earth.

If you ask a religious person what proof is there that a god exists they will say "cause the bible says so".

That, in my opinion is very weak, very VERY weak.

QUESTION:

What proof is there that GOD exists?

Is there anyone else who just doesn't care where we came from. Everyone has a really strong opinion one way or the other it seems but I don't care. I have so many better things to worry about. And I'm sick of people getting in fights and blowing themselves up over this. I mean, who cares?

My friend has been having trouble feeling the presence of God in his life. I've always thought of him as a stronger Christian than I (and I still think so), but now he has confronted me with this problem and I'm not sure how to help him. He says he prays, and that is great, but he is having trouble receiving an answer. He is getting discouraged and is starting to wonder "what is the point of prayer?" Anyone know a verse I can tell him to help him get through this?

I keep hearing from Christians that we should be in awe and thankful for how much Jesus suffered. Personally, I believe Jesus to be nothing more than a man who tried to live a righteous life, but I digress. What about all the other innocent people in the world who suffered worse than he did? Why don't they get acknowledged?

why did he fiddle with our puny earth for 5 days out of 6, just taking a short break on day 4 to create, well, everything that exists in the universe outside this earth save for the moon and sun?

From this King James bible, genesis 1:
http://etext.virginia.edu/etcbin/toccer-new2?id=KjvGene.sgm&images=images/modeng&data=/texts/english/modeng/parsed&tag=public&part=1&division=div1

Let me paraphrase it:
day 1:
heaven and earth (watery)
light
day 2:
firmament (heaven)
day 3:
dry land
plants
day 4:
EVERY FRIGGIN STAR AND PLANET IN THE UNIVERSE
sun
moon
day 5:
fish and fowl
day 6:
land animals, insects, man

You say its written that Satan is pre-destined to lose, so why does he bother. Thats not fair for a fighter to go to combat knowing he's gonna lose. How cheesy is God!

Paul speaking of Jesus,

Who, being in the very nature God (Jesus) did not consider equality with God something to be grasped: rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human being, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross!

I know what that passage says, but I want to see what others think it means.....
