Well... psh... of COURSE "day" means something totally different to a god! I mean, OUR day is 24 hours, of course, but to a god... well... it's a really long albeit indeterminate length of time. And that's because... god is OUTSIDE of time. Yeah. That sounds plausible, huh?

Your literacy of the Bible is so wanting, that you forgot day 8; but that set aside, but not your illiteracy, when you read in Genesis of that period it is not the first creation of anything. It is a refurbishing for this earth age after the destruction from the war that satan started when he wanted to be the Christ, instead of Jesus. Thats why He said: Replenish the earth; it had already been plenished once before. As far as the day he put into the universe, what he was doing was setting it right so that, again, the earth could inhabit flesh life in cooperation with the stars, sky, moon, sun, etc.
I might also remind you that one day is as a thousand years with the Lord.
You really don't have any Bible knowledge at all, do ya?
No offense intended, I just suggest you get some.

Yes....what a good question...
The reason behind this is that at the time the writers of the book believed the Earth to be the center of the universe, the most important body in the universe.
Science has shown that not only is the Earth fairly insignificant, but that other Earth like planets exist in the cosmos.
Its just more proof that the Bible was and still is a work of fiction with huge factual inadequacies.

Yeah, I never thought of that. Why take six days on a project he could have done instantly if he had these super powers? Also, there is another genesis story that is a bit different. Genesis 2:4-25 has all the same stuff as the first one but in a different order. I guess he forgot to take notes on what he did and got confused about what order things happened in.

I have always wondered why God took so long too. Basically, He could have created it in an instant. Those 6 days of creation and that one day of rest MEANS SOMETHING. Could it be that one day is as a thousand years to God as the Bible states? Could God be telling us that after 6000 years, He would return for a 1000 year rest with us?

You need to realize that all those things that Astronomy THEORIZES (and we all know all about theories) are the sun and moon and planets and stars, and galaxies are REALLY (because the bible clearly says so) just lights that god put in the firmament.
Think of it as five days of sculpture and a day of painting for a change of pace.
Followed by football day, of course.

The general stance on this by the Vatican is that these passages in the bible are what they call "allegory" In other words, god gave us a fairy story to explain the cosmos, because he didn't think we were ready to understand evolution, and the cosmos at that time. Or some bull$hit like that...

More proof men wrote the Bible... While standing on earth looking at the Heavens, earth seems much more large and important...so their mythical character had to spend the most time creating this place, rather than the infinitly large universe....

I guess there was something slightly more difficult about creating our small insignificant Earth than there was creating the rest of the boundless universe
