Because Jews are very intellectual and value education. They are not smart asses, they are just smart. People who call/show Jews as smart asses are only spiteful because they cant accept the fact that most Jews are actually intellectually gifted, witty, sharp and very humorous.
anyway, whats wrong with being a smart ***? it can be very beneficial in some situations and it is quite funny.

Jews have a reputation for being smart because education is a paramount value.
However, it is idiots like the questioner above that corners the market on being an @$$.

Because we take education serious and prepare very young in order to have a Bar Mitzvah by the age of 13 years old, and it is very hard work to prepare us. And we also take money serious. So that is why we like to charge for everything. :-)

Probably because we tend to be more intelligent, and humor seems to be an intrinsic part of our culture. We almost had to develop a sense of humor to deal with what was done to us by people who make blanket statements about Jews. Like you did.
