He wasn't one of the disciples; quite the opposite, he persecuted them. Did he somehow gain special insight when he 'fell to the ground' (Acts 9:4) and blinded? Were his eyes 'truly opened' when he regained his vision?

Here in Ontario there's been a high-profile case recently of a Jehovah's witness couple who gave birth to sextuplets. As is common in multiple births, many of the babies aren't expected to survive, but the parents are forbidding the hospital from giving life-saving blood transfusions. In the end, social workers took legal custody of them long enough to forcibly give blood transfusions, but this has only made the parents more upset.

According to the newspapers, this violates some central tenet of the Jehovah's Witness faith, some commandment in the Bible, and will cause those children to be shunned by the JW community. None of the papers that report this fact, however, go on to say WHY this could be.

Does anybody happen to know what the reason is?

I have been defending Islam to a ton of christian scholars that are arguing that Islam is not peaceful, and I'm all but being stoned to death. It turns out that they are not only not our brothers, but our opposites. Please explain these quranic passages.
Surah 9:5-fight and slay the pagans (or infidels or unbelievers) wherever you find them?"
Surah 4:157-And for claiming that they killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of GOD. In fact, they never killed him, they never crucified him - they were made to think that they did. All factions who are disputing in this matter are full of doubt concerning this issue. They possess no knowledge; they only conjecture. For certain, they never killed him.
Surah 9:30-And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they

Suppose there was a tremendous problem facing humanity and you could spend ten minutes of your day either praying for God to fix it or working to fix it yourself. And suppose you couldn't split the time it had to be ten minutes of one or ten minutes of the other.

How would you spend those ten minutes?

Our constitution doesn't make reference to god or christ. Read the constitution for yourself here to verify. http://www.ourdocuments.gov/doc.php?flash=true&doc=9&page=transcript

The Bill of Rights, Amendment 1 seems to make it clear that there won't be laws that estabilish religion. Verify it here http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.billofrights.html

It has stated, unemployment rates for Muslims are higher than those for people from any other religion and Muslims in Great Britain had the highest rates of reported ill health in 2001, with above average birth rates.

They are simply implying that a lot of muslims are on benefits. This is blatant islamaphobia and only leads to hatred of muslim and should be removed. What about white people taking benefits? where is this statistic?

Every single Religion has miracle stories, but Imagine if none of the books, The bible,The Quaran, torah ect, held no miracle stories. Imagine if they just had some stories and some examples of Philosophies but no Miracles. Would anyone take them serious? or do you think that by putting miracle stories in them, people are more likely to believe?

The reason for the attack on Christianity be that Islam has come to take back evidence to their root infecting many of faith? They have infected with their gods. and now they want to not be held accountable for their transgressions against the One God. I will continue to see this as so in the twentyfirst century of the battle.Thank You.

How do people who follow a faith resolve with a set of beliefs that defy rational thought?

If you read the Bible, or the Koran, or any other religious texts, the ideas, concepts and stories are absolutely ridiculous, they defy logic, yet millions of people follow them with open arms.

Now whilst I realise the less intellectually gifted can be "forgiven", but lots of intelligent people follow a religion. That said the intellectual elite of this world are almost resoundingly atheist, but still there are plenty who "believe"..

Do they compartmentalise faith and logic in separate boxes?

(and please no quotes from the bible, or comments about how I am the one who is deluded...yawn..)

Thats a HUGE FALLACY! Ive tried everything from Catholic, to S. Baptist to Pentecostal to LMS, to Jew for Jesus, etc most people that attack christianity have had one bad experience after another, and some of them realize that its God's will they no longer be christian. Its too bad most christians are as thick as milkshakes, and they would rather not listen, just tear others down, christianity WAS NOT built on peace and love, it was built on bloodshed, its sad you christians are ignorant of the history of your own religion. Then you have the nerve to condescend those that know and research? How arrogant!

I'm seeing more inflammatory statements here everyday, and I'm guilty of the occasional rude remark also.

What I'm wondering is how honest you're going to be in answering this question, if indeed you choose to answer it at all.

No, I wouldn't want my mother to read everything I've written, although most of it is acceptable.

Plain & simple, I'm just honestly curious... No bashing from either side please. Putting aside some of the truly assinine and insulting questions often posted here, there are many fair-minded and thoughtful questions posted by "the other side." I'm just wondering if any of you have ever read a response to your question that has given you pause, even for a moment. A response that has made you say "hmmmm, that's interesting" even if it wasn't likely to change your mind (or maybe it has??)

Thanks and, again, play nice.
