it is approximately every 12 years and the last one was 2000.

edit: The holy city Allahabad will be hosting the next Ardh Kumbh Mela from 3rd January 2007 to 26th February 2007. The fair is held at Prayag where three holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythological Saraswati meet. The place is considered to be one of the most sacred places in India.
