when i was younger, i was told a Protestant won't wear a crucifix (pendant) because Protestants believe Christ

is alive but Catholics will wear one. is there any truth to that?

Catholics are the ones who usually wear the crucifix with the body of Jesus on the cross. Christians usually wear a plain cross to show the Christ is risen from the dead and no longer hanging on the cross. The Catholics bring to rememberance Jesus' sufferings on the cross whereas the Christian bring to rememberance Jesus' resurrection.

First, in responce to seekfind, Catholics are Christians. And yes it is true that for the most part you will see Protestants wear crosses, and Catholics wear crucifix's. I was told when I was younger that I couldnt wear a crucifix (my family was protestant) because it was a Catholic thing and they did it because they didnt believe that Christ rose again. This is very untrue.
Protestants do wear just the cross to emphasize Christ's resurrection. Yet, Catholic's wear it because it represents the most important part of Christ's life, the Passion of his death. It was at this point that the payment for our sins was filled, and the image constantly reminds us of the sacrifice that God gave. (along with the pain and meaning that went with it)

Back in the old days, there were some protestants. They are pretty much all gone now. The Almighty YHVH created this world very good. Once man sinned, he could no longer meet the requirements of YHVH. Because of His great love for man, He send His son the Savior. The Savior's name means YHVH is my Savior!--YAHOSHUA! The only way one can have his sins taken care of is to invite the Savior in to carry them. If a person chooses to remain attached to their sins, they will be consumed in the cleansing fire the Almighty will send to cleanse this world so He can make it new! How could the Almighty be more generous?
