Is it appropriate for Christians to base so much of their beliefs on the “afterlife”?

A belief should be based on “any cognitive content held as true” (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=GGIH,GGIH:2006-50,GGIH:en&defl=en&q=define:belief&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title), not “what’s in it for me”. Sometimes I wonder how big of a business church would be if the topic of afterlife was not addressed.

I mean what do Non-belivers think about whenb prayers come true, like people praying to God to ask something or anything in their prayers and they do come true, i have certainly seen this and can tell u from my experiance, people prayed to be financial secure when in trouble and has come true, people prayed to get rid if illness when chances were 99% of failue and they got cured , people pray for making up with sumone, amongts other tings, i have seen this happen and in ma case when ever i prayed for something it has always been asnwered, when i had a tooth ache and cud not get a emergcency dentist in 2 am in da mornign and i prayed for forgines and make ma tooth ache better and suddenly ma toothache stopped and next day got it out, many things have been asnwers so wat do Non-belivers make out of this, cnt be just coincdence.

For instance, scientists say that we jumped from apes 48 chromosomes to our 46 chromosomes. That a mutations fused two pairs. BUT ISN'T THAT DETRIMENTAL? How can you just fuse chromosomes and not have retard effect?

Im starting to not believe in the Bible for some reason, its just talking snakes, a flood that covered Earth, and parting a sea...its just nothing like this happens now so why should I believe that it did back then.

Jesus Christ could not have intended for us to eat His Flesh and Blood, because that would be cannibalism.

So I am a substitute librarian for the school district out here.
Yesterday Im at work and I suddenly rememberd a book I always wanted to read that an ex told me about years ago. I couldnt remember the name of the book but I remembered it was the true story of an Indian boy who was nabbed from his village, etc.
I searched all kinds of names I thought it may be like "Ishmael" "Isaiah" "Isaac" and no luck. So I gave up.

Today Im helping a little girl pick out a book in the kindergarten section (small picture books) and the book I was searching for is an adult sized novel.
A book hits my shoulder, like it fell from the upper shelves (again, all picture books) and I look down and the book that hit me was called Ishi. The book Id been searching for.

Did God just throw a book at me?

Over the past few years I have grown to loathe the born again christians, the mormans, and the scientoligist.

The born again christians use scaring tactics to get people to join their religion. I have talked to a few of them who say they follow Jesus for the point thats its right. I know for a fact there is not one person on this earth who isn't afriad of hell. They tell all the others their going to hell just because they have done something wrong. They believe that everyone except christians are going to hell.

I hate the mormans because they're polygamist and sometimes marry young girls. And they follow this crazy prophet who has just been arrested this year for haveing sex with young girls.

And lastly the scientologist wire tap phone calls and a bunch of other illegal things.
