No it's not detrimental, clearly we're not all retarded here.

Also, look at your teeth, then look at an ape's teeth. Same setup, same structure: front incisors and back molars. There is a connection there.

Random fact but primates (like us) are the only other animals (besides dolphins) that enjoy sex for the sake of sex. This is evolutionary, resulting from a larger cerebrum. Also, some primates females, like human females, undergo menstruation instead of estrus. There is a progression, and newer aspects of a species are preserved as it evolves into a newer species with something new about it.

It's all evolution!

How does that follow. Is there a hard and fast rule that says with DNA more is better? Mankind is a flawed species in any case-only in terms of intelligence is he better suited to survive than other primates. The recessive gene that prevents us and primates synthesising vitamin c didn't exist in our common ancestor so you could argue we are worse off yet we still survive because our ancestors adapted to their habitats and the need to produce vitamin c diminished.

in the bible if you read in genesis god created man in his image and breathed into his nostrils and man become a living soul. We are created in the likeness of god and not from an ape. Also if you read 1 john 5:7 for there are three that bear record in heaven the father, the word, and the holy ghost and these three are one. Just as god has three characteristics so do us human beings we have a body, spirit, and a soul.

There are many people with chromosomal abnormalities. Many inversions, fusion and translocations have no phenotype.

We ARE ape-like primates. With that in mind, is it really so strange that we evolved from some other ape-like primate?
