To get motivation morale and courage from his higher self.
His manifestation as a human being brought about limitations to his divine self. Thus to realize the same he had to appeal to his higher Self.

Difficult to accept the story God seems to have copied
i)the ways of our politicians. As members of a committee they author a report and then as members of the legislature they report to their own selves or
ii) better still the method followed by me as a member at yahoo answers give an answer and then vote my own answer as the best answer

Jesus did not pray to himself he prayed to the father. I know you are trying to make light of the pun that Jesus was God and therefore prayed to God therefore praying to himself. While Jesus was on earth he was the Son of God and he was praying to God the Father.

well... i am sure that everyone at one point has prayed for themselves... its not bad... just ignorant and selfish. being ignorant and selfish... isnt bad.. i mean they are bad qualities... but its a step in the process of learning... everyone must pass these things in order to gain wisdom.

and you gotta remember that jesus was sent here to "save" mankind.... so when he was praying for himself.. he was also praying for us.....

keep in mind too.. that the bible was written from second or more accounts.. there isnt one gospel written by jesus in the bible.. so dont take things that where said about him too seriously.
