I must admit to a romantic streak, but the following interrupted my thinking for about an hour:

Eleven years ago this week the Hubble Telescope took the following picture of galaxies BILLIONS of light years away from earth:

http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/releases/1996/01/image/a/format/web_print

Assume for now that humans are the ONLY sentient living beings in the universe. This would mean that for Billions of years these galaxies (and Billions more) have come into being, and spawned stars, planets, & other interstellar structures.

BUT until this picture was taken, no living creature ever saw them or understood what they were seeing. They just existed without meaning.

Our generation is the first witness. The first ever. In the entire 15 billion year history of the universe. And to us, they have meaning.

Does this idea, at least momentarily, stop you in your tracks and provide you with awe?

Even without believing in God?

How can there be two different versions of God. The OT, God seems to be cruels and evil, but the NT God is seen as good and kind. How can there be such a difference. Can you please explain it to me.

Please don't say that there isn't any god either. Just give an answer please.

They both kill embryos. In fact, stem cell research just uses left over embryos from in vitro fertilization.

Is it that in vitro fertilization was around before Karl Rove's realized how to rally the Bible thumping base?

God summons humanity to investigate and reflect upon the heavens, the earth, mountains, stars, plants, seeds, animals, the alternation of the night and the day, the creation of man, the rain and many other created things. Examining these, man comes to recognize the artistry of God's creation in the world around him, and ultimately, to know our Creator, Who created the entire universe and everything in it from nothing.
"Science" offers a method by which the universe, and all the beings therein, may be examined to discover the artistry in God's creation, thereby communicating it to mankind. Religion, therefore, encourages science, adopting it as a tool by which to study the subtleties of God's creation.

The whole idea of it seems absurd.

We have all eternity to fill. But we have no jobs (or do we? Are their fast food restaurants in heaven?). Do we just sit around talking? Is there entertainment?

Do we get to be with loved ones? If you have no loved ones, are you still a loner in heaven?

Do we go through boot camp to be part of God's army to fight Satan at Armeggedon?

Is it like one, unending eternal orgasm?

I mean, if he walked on water, turned water into wine, rose form the dead, and brought a man BACK from the dead, why is the only place that has it written anywhere, the Bible. That would be like me saying i did all sorts of wonderful things, and having my friends write a book that was unverifiable. WHY ISNT THEIR MORE WRITINGS ABOUT THIS STUFF! and if their is, can someone please hip me to it?

Are the following some reasons to think twice before accepting the Trinitarian Creed at face value? The word "Trinity" is never employed in the Bible. Advocates of the Trinity doctrine are very inclusive and judgemental to anyone offering a valid variation of a crucial doctrine. I have detected cult-like behavior in staunch Trinity advocates. The doctrine of the Trinity itself feels incomplete and lacking. I'm not saying I am totally against what the doctrine is saying but I'm strongly against accepting the Trinity dogma as "written in stone."
