It is the job of Christians to tell others the good news of God's Son Jesus. So, yes, we are to raise our children in a Christian home and teach them our beliefs, but it is up to them whether or not to follow them.

Visitorparkingonly------this is not always true.
My parents were Christian, and they never even would discuss the possibility that there might be other thoughts and religions. I went to Church and Sunday School. I did not stay with their religion---and they never forgave me about it. I am now a Jew, and I guess somewhat antagonistic about Christianity, as I cannot understand how anyone could ever believe G-d would come to earth in human form. There is no G-d but G-d, and Jesus is not G-d. Even as a child, I could not accept this.

You are right to say, that the parents need to be the first ones that teach their children about the Lord- and continue to be doing that through their growing years. Having others teach your children more about Jesus is not wrong- that is what a church is for. Even Jesus went to temple growing up, even though He was God Himself in the flesh.
Children go to school monday -friday to learn - and some of the stuff they learn is good and some is not- I would be remiss if I did not have my children at church on sunday learning more about our Savior- I go to church to fellowship and grow in my faith as well.

I agree it is the parents job to educate their children about religious matters, but I also don't have a problem with other people expressing their beliefs. I hope my child is exposed to all sorts of differing beliefs and cultures, and if I have taught him correctly, he will take what he is learned, analyze it, pray about it, and decide what is right for him.

Most people dont take the spiritual side of education seriously therefore they leave that aspect to others. Truancy is usually left to the authorities.
We have babysitters looking after our children instead of doing it ourselves.

And what if the parents arent Christian? And know nothing about Christianity? If a child wants to learn about a religion they should ask someone who knows. If their parents know, great, but if they dont, they should ask someone else

Not when you're atheist. I taught my children to mistrust tv commercials, understand that everything you read or see on tv isn't real, and otherwise think wisely. They rejected religion on their own.
