Quote:

All laws and systems of law are religious in origin. They are inescapably religious, because laws establish standards which define justice and morality for society.

The source of law in any society is its god. If a society makes its own laws, based upon human reasoning, then Humanism is its religion, and man is its god. If its laws are made by a single ruler, then he is the highest god of that society. If a nation's laws are made by a group of people, then we can say that this group of legislators are the gods of that society.

The source of law is the god of any society. Thus, legislators are gods by definition.

Seriously, all of the atheists claim that Christians are judgemental and shove our faith down other's throats....but no one is forcing them to come into this forum and start insulting believers. They do that voluntarily.

Isn't that being hypocritical? Screaming to keep our faith to ourselves then going out and forcing atheism down everyone else's throats?

between Paul and James. I said Paul said you are "justified, not by your good works but through faith in God only", while James says you are "justified by your good works through faith in Jesus only". Most of you said there's no contradiction. You essentially said James was correcting the wrong impression from what Paul said. One cannot claim to be justified without showing the work of that justification. In fact, James 2 (verses are in brackets) is explicit

[14] What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him?
[17] So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
[22] You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works,
[24] You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Today some of you lynched on me when I said this. Don't you think the way some of you are brash on issues like this is undoing your work?

God has created all people they are his creation and he created them in Love. These things God loves mercy, kindness, gentleness, humility and a tender heart. God loves marriage between one man and one woman. God loves children. God loves the those sho seek him to know him in truth and in spirit. God loves those who are willing to follow him over mens ideas of him. God loves people who seek after his heart and after his ear. God loves them that seek to harm no one. God is a respector of no man and he is a respector of no prophet. God hates the lie and he hates the divorce and he hates the abominations spoke of in the prophets. God is love and he is also justice. God loves to bless his people with funds with homes and with children and store houses of food and with all good things but he will not give you what will harm you. My question is do you know the Love of God? It is not the same as the love of men.

Hello

I recently put-up a question about mumbo jumbo. I am type of person who feeds of knowledge but not the wisdom, as in the wisdom that Christians have. For months now I have been attempting to work out as to what will happen to me in the hereafter, that is at the the time of judgement. I am concerned about my knowledge (I am busy working on 'my thought'). I wanted to find my own faith and I believe that this is possible by exploration and not watching the tv. So I studied religions as far back as Zoroastrianism.Even my mother said that i would not be an ideal christian, not due to igornance but i feel as if mu condemnation is already above my head, my name has been marked not in the book of life so I should be thrown in the sulphur lakes.
I read the bible and try to understand, but I notice its simple language makes it harder to comprenhend. I prefer long essays and endless hymns.

ANy advice!

Did all cultures create a God in an attempt to explain and control what they did not know or were afraid of?

If God is man-made why did it take such a firm grip of our psyche even now that we have science and vast knowledge about the world around us.

Why do some very intelligent people STILL believe in the existence of a God.

For example - Is a society's need for a God similar to a society's need to create new fashions in clothing (all nationalities do it, did it without consulting another)?

We have an instinct to imagine and believe in a higher spirit and we will do it no matter what proof we have that a god does not exists?

Enough evidence of a placebo effect?

If prayer yields the same results regardless who or what you pray to.

If people of all religions suffer.

If 1 religion is right then don't all others serve as placebos for this test and shouldn't we be able to discern the correct religion based on these studies?

Are you the family of God. Gods family loves all men and all peoples. Even the enemy of God those who are outside of the knowedge of God. Are you willing to obey God that people can be saved. That muslims can enter into a relationship with God and know his love. That JWs can come to know who Christ is. That mormons can come to know the Love of God. Jesus said If you love me take up my cross and follow me. Are you willing to pray for the lost and show his mercy to a dieing world. Are you willing to show his love and mercy in your lives. Are you willing to be his brother his sister and his mother. Jesus said he came to restore all men to the Father. If he is lifed up he will draw all men to himself. Lifting Jesus up is our Job? Are you willing to lift Jesus up?

alot of people call the selfs Jesus followers and have christ in there hearts but what about the times when we argue with people that we don't talk to them anymore or how about when people do bad stuff to us and we don't talk to them any more we must remember what the bible says in romans 12 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"[d]says the Lord. 20On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

In most religions we are led to believe that theirs is the one to follow and everyone else will go to hell.We are told by our'spiritual leaders' what is right and what is wrong. When it is okay to kill and when it is not.I have read many religious scriptures and studied numerous works on the different concepts of God.What i have realised is that God cannot be found preaching in any Church, bowing in any Temple or teaching in any Mosque.God must be searched for inside of yourself.Look for God within so that He may reflect in all that you do,think and say.Be truthfull,be compassionate,be kind and gentle to even those who are awful to others.Let your Children learn Life from u,not mtv and child minders.Control your anger, hatred and emotions, control your own minds.Don't be swept along by the media and told what you should be wearing, watching or listening to.Be yourselves,be free from the material desires which imprison us.Don't undervalue your worth,u can accomplish anything with Will Power!

I recently heard on the radio part of an interview with a Christian theologist in which this point was discussed. It does seem contradictory to suggest that God loves us unconditionally and yet could eternally condemn us. I'd like to read more about this so if anyone could point me in the direction of some reading material and/or tell me the name of this debate in the literature that would be great. Thanks.

I was having a discussion with a friend about religion. He thinks the Catholic religion is going to decline in the next 60 years because more Catholics are becoming Protestant. I think the Catholic religion can't decline because there are too many Catholics.

That got me to thinking! I wonder how many people are religious and even attend church. I think I may live in an area that's really religious but my friend thinks that most of the United States is not very religious.

Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated!
