What is Salaat? Salaat is prayer.
Muslims perform prayer 5 times a day. The method is quite different from other religions. For Salaat we stand in one spot and read certain verses, then bow, then stand straight and then prostrate on the ground. We do this a prescribed number of times - example 4 times for the pre-sunrise prayers.
Why Can't Muslim Women pray Salaat while on their period?
The blood during a period is considered unclean and impure.
Even urine is considered unclean and impure - so if ones garments are soiled with urine, one may not pray Salaat until one cleans the impurity.
A woman is forgiven and she does not have to make up the Salaat after her menstrual cycle ends.
And Allah knows best!

If you pray the Muslim way does that mean you are a Muslim? If yes then why don't you know about nail varnish and periods? If no then why are you praying the ''Muslim way''? If your not a Muslim our rules dont therefor apply to you. Reason being, 1. We perform Wudu before praying. If you are wearing Nail varnish your Wudu is invalid as your nail is not cleaned by the water. 2. Its a mercy from Allah. A lot of women have a hard time when menstruating and Allah makes everything easy for us. Also you cannot perform Wudu properly because the area can not be cleaned properly. Blood from menses leaves you in an unclean state and we have to be clean to pray Salat.

As many have already answered,
Salat is prayer, and women do not pray while on their periods because menstrual blood is impure.
a user said that the prayers can be made up at a later date, but that is incorrect. Once a woman's period ends, she does not have to make up any of the prayers for when she was on her period.
A woman still can recite verses from the Qur'an, and make dua'as (supplications) while on her period.
also, there is a difference between menstrual blood and vaginal bleeding. If say, a woman has spotting or bleeding from the vagina due to a tumor or infection in her uterus, and it is clearly not menstrual blood, she still has to do her regular prayers.
Another user mentioned how in the Torah states women on their period are unclean... the only rules that are the same in Islam are that women cannot pray and cannot have intercourse during their periods.
The Torah goes further with the restrictions, like husbands not being allowed to touch their wives and also not even being able to receive something from their wives' hands if she is on her period. There a few other rules too that go along that line.
Islam does not have these restrictions because the menstruating woman herself is not dirty or unclean or impure. It is the menstrual blood itself that is impure.

Probably the visual image most non-Muslims have of Islam is of rows of men in a mosque or in a large outdoor space, rhythmically bowing and prostrating in unison. This is salat, which means worship, of which prayer is an essential ingredient. This worshful prayer is pure devotion; it is unconditional praise of God where nothing is asked for, nothing is sought but God alone.
Before salat begins, ceremonial bathing occurs at a fountian in te forecourt of the mosque. Without this ritual washing, a symbolic restoration of the believer to original purity and balance, the salat is not valid. Theoretically, one can perform one wudu for fajr salaat and this wudu would be considered valid for the rest of the day. However, certain things invalidate the wudu (often referred to as "breaking wudu") and these can be stated generically thus:
Defecation, passing gas or urination.
Emission of semen.
Sleep.
Passing blood. (from an open wound or during a womans time of the month)
Vomiting.
Loss of senses.
Touching a member of the opposite sex.
If one breaks their Wudu they must preform it again before praying. Since a woman can not stop her period during prayer she cannot return to the symbolic restoration of the believer to original purity and balance and the salat is not seen as valid.

Salat means the 5 prayers we are performing each day.
But why they can't perform prayer, the exact justifications for this is not known but those who has knowledge about Islam law try to give reasons.

I think Salat is basically prayer. The muslim woman may not pray when they are on their period because it is believed as being dirty. When a muslim woman prays, she must be clean, clean nails, hair etc etc Try the following site...it might help a bit...

Womena re not allowed to pray during the period becuase bleeding takes place, having blood on you is considered a state of impurity.
