People want to understand things, and even with today's science it's easier to say god did it. Plus these intelligent people are often indoctrinated as children, which is a terrible violation of freedom of religion.

All gods are man-made. And you are correct: gods were invented to justify things that we can not understand.
The Greeks had sun gods and sea gods, because they could not understand the existence of the sun floating in the sky or the vastness of the sea and where it went over the horizon. And if it could not be understood by mortal man, then it must be understood by an immortal god.
As man has progressed scientifically, pantheism declined, with most cultures now using only one god. This god has but one purpose: to justify our existence. We will never know exactly how the universe was formed or why we came into existence; therefore, a god remains the necessary answer. Conversely, since we will never know the answer of where everything came from, we can not prove that a god doesn't exist. This will remain the conundrum of human existence until we become extinct.
People like the comfort of a supernatural being looking over them. They believe the creator god provides them with guidance, and will determine their fate when they die. There is obviously nothing wrong with this - some people, even the very intelligent, prefer to live their lives believing in a higher purpose.

I'm reading a book right now comprised of papers on quantum cosmology delivered at a conference of philosophers, theologians, and quantum physicists. It's amazing how much convergence there is when all the participants are critically open minded.
You've been reading propaganda, not science, if you think that science's "vast knowledge" excludes the existence of God. And you certainly haven't read any real theology.

Hers only an celebration, you recognize them jews that stand at that wall and rock backward and forward, properly that makes your mind produce chemical compounds and it truly is plausible to confirm hallucinations. it truly is basically one celebration, i'm am confident that non secular human beings quite do have self assurance, yet they havent discovered different possiblilities as to what might want to be happening. only because you observed some thing doesnt make it authentic. Watch some documentaries on the 5 senses, which will answer a tremendous type of questions.

Where did God come from?
We can only partially comprehend the notion of God's existence. To do so, we must use human concepts to speak of God: "without beginning or end"; "eternal"; "infinite", etc. The Bible says that He has always existed: " . . . even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God" (Psalm 90:2). And, "Your throne is established from of old; Thou art from everlasting" (Psalm 93:2). Quite simply, God has no beginning and no end. So, where did God come from? He didn't. He always was.
To us, the notion of time is linear. One second follows the next, one minute is after another. We get older, not younger and we cannot repeat the minutes that have passed us by. We have all seen the time lines on charts: early time is on the left and later time is on the right. We see nations, people's lives, and plans mapped out on straight lines from left to right. We see a beginning and an end. But God is "beyond the chart." He has no beginning or end. He simply has always been.
Also, physics has shown that time is a property that is the result of the existence of matter. Time exists when matter exists. Time has even been called the fourth dimension. But God is not matter. In fact, God created matter. He created the universe. So, time began when God created the universe. Before that, God was simply existing and time had no meaning (except conceptually), no relation to Him. Therefore, to ask where God came from is to ask a question that cannot really be applied to God in the first place. Because time has no meaning with God in relation to who He is, eternity is also not something that can be absolutely related to God. God is even beyond eternity.
Eternity is a term that we finite creatures use to express the concept of something that has no end -- and/or no beginning. Since God has no beginning or end, He has no beginning. This is because He is outside of time.

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!
Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!
Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?
My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:
Do you know how to play safe?
Your point:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...
Believer's point:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...
Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?
