I was having a discussion with a friend about religion. He thinks the Catholic religion is going to decline in the next 60 years because more Catholics are becoming Protestant. I think the Catholic religion can't decline because there are too many Catholics.

That got me to thinking! I wonder how many people are religious and even attend church. I think I may live in an area that's really religious but my friend thinks that most of the United States is not very religious.

Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated!

There is a difference between a religious person and a spiritual person, a religious person is one who is seeking God, a spiritual person is one who has found God, I am the latter.
Yes, I attend Church Wed, and Sun. And am Assembly Of God (Pentecostal)

I am spiritual. I attend Church sometimes even though I don't really follow the religion or its tradition. Amazingly, the people at my Church don't seem to mind who I am. I go just to be near people and be with a community.

I am spiritual and believe the devine talks to us from within, one on one.I believe religion should disappear and spirituality take its place.Too many fights and wars are over religious differences.Theres a need for people to wake up and not be like sheep and follow the crowd. The world would be better off.We need to be selfless and loving towards others and to me thats just common sense which requires no doctrine.

Yes I am a Faithful Christian and member ofthe Church of Christ in Pa.

Christ died for his CHURCH.
Christ said I will build MY Church.
Christ is the Head of the Church
Members of the Lord's church are his body.

All other so called religions are man-made. Christ laid down the only foundation for HIS CHURCH.
Mankind needs to get back to Christ New Testament Church found ONLY in the Holy inspired Word of God.
To start up our own "churches" and claim to be from God does not necessarily make it so.

The Church of Christ only goes by the BIBLE. It does not take away or add to God's word.

I believe in God. I haven't been to church for about 23 years, apart from weddings and funerals.

I was baptized and confirmed as Church of England (protestant).

I would not class myself as religious. I don't like church-type people. I think that God must be pretty sad to see what we've become, and what humans do in his name.

I'm not religious (I’m an atheist)

Define "Spiritual" and then I'll tell you if I think I am by your standards. I find that there are some people who would say I am and there are some people who would say I'm not.

This is a link that will show you a pie chart of religious adherents as a percentage of the worlds population in a poll taken the year 2000. It's just a poll though.

I am more spiritual, I depend on my relationship with God rather than my church. many people go to church, but that doesn't mean they are saved.. if I go stand in a barn all day, this doesn't make me a horse. going to church doesn't mean you are a Christian either. God knows your heart
I do go to church, every time the doors are open.. I go to worship God, not to be seen.. I am a Baptist.
