Have you ever known a former alcoholic/drug addict who becomes obsessed with religion after converting to christianity? Are these people merely substituting one obsessive behavior for another?

I am an athiest but usually do not tell anyone this because people often feel that thay can persecute or taunt me for my nonbeliefs-even if would never do that to someone who was religious. Are there any atheists out there who feel the same and hopefully there are actually more of us than we know of?

I try not to preach or talk to people about it unless they ask me a question try to follow the bible to be kind to my fellow man.help people and try to be a good wife and look after my family.I do expect some people not to like me because of it but the abuse towards me some times is overwhelming. why do you hate christian so much?? xx

Jesus was a rebel he smashed up temples dis-obeyed the government to the extent they had to execute him. he attacked the rich was anti organised religion broke laws and met lepers and helped the poor. he was actively against all prejudice and publicly spoke out about it. so i ask all christians why do so few of you act like jesus. a lot of christians are amongnst the most prejudist and pro rich, pro establishment and pro war people in the world. so i ask them how exactly do you follow the teachings of christ.

They watched it at the church after everyone was raptured. I thought they used to sell that video or one like it, that you could really own and keep. Not the left behind series, but a modified video similar to the one they watched in the movie. Does anyone know where to find that?

The beliefs of yesterday are now referred to as mythology (Greek, Roman, Norse, Native American mythology), and no one in their right mind claims them as true.

Yet we still have rampant religion today... What separates these two?

I mean you will read all the respones anyway...even the ones you dont like then you get pissed off start name calling then the whole "bs"

Everyone seems to think that the end of the World is coming. They all seem to have neg. thoughts and intentions. The Four Horsemen and the Apocalypse and all that fun stuff, but the signs that they are looking for have been repeated over the years, since the beginning of time. Whatever "signs" people see, such as War and pestilence have reoccured over many years, hell this country is built on War, but that is overlooked when people say that the world is going to end this time.

Why don't we live like the world isn't going to end, and stop being so dour and pitiful and do something about the ecological system and war. It isn't written in stone people.

Will you try and make a difference? Be positive and believe that we can make the world a better place and stop damning it.
