I too am Christian, a full gospel Christian. First, let me say how sorry I am for the way others have done you, the persecution for believing in God. I too have that, and most TRUE Christians do . Many claim to be Christian but dont live it. Believing in God isnt enough WE must love Him enough to obey Him, that is a true Christian. When we do live the truth of Jesus, and we do speak about our love for Jesus, it makes those that hate Him , hate us. Why? God tells us He gives all of us a certain measure of faith. ANd, then as we grow older, we can either examine that faith and alow God to reveal truth to us, or we can run from it. The devil continually tries to pull us away, but God still tries to pull us to Him. BUt, as we know, we are all given the precious gift of free choice. The same devil that pulls ppl away from God and into all types of sin and degradation, which leads to their destruction and hell, is the SAME devil that makes them hate us. Somehow on some level, tho way down deeep most often, they see something in us they KNOW they need (its that certain measure of faith thing) and yet dont want it. So, they hate us, mock us, resent us. I hve been very persecuted from others. Tho like you, I dont push it on anyone. But, if I am somewhere and otehrs around me only mock God, and talk trash, I will speak up to defend Gods character, and that gets me very hated. and I end up taking a lot of stuff because of it. Used to just bother me so much. BUt, not anymore. Look at what they did to Jesus. Not all accepted Him, they mocked Him , spit on Him, and only wanted to torture Him to death. But, Jesus said that no man could take His life. He CHOSE To give it up for all of us, even those that mock Him still. But, they will have to turn to Him for salvation and that is a choice still today. But, did we see Jesus upon that cross as He was suffering, doing any whinning about how awful it was what all they did to Him. ??? NO, He gladlly gave up His life for us. And, part of our being a true Christian is being willing to make sacrifice for Him also, and doing it gladly, and not crying about how awful it is. I did it for years, and I dont judg eyou. I have so been there. But, we must get past this if we are to continue our walk with the Lord till Jesus comes. BEcause if the devil cant get us any other way, he will try to tear down our faith by getting hurt over how others do us. Makes us give up our faith. There is nothing on this earth worth giving up Jesus for. NOTHING. We see all the signs around us of His soon return. Hang on in prayer with Jesus. Put on your full armor og God. and He will get you thru till the end. We can pray for the lost, and mourn it. But, we arent to let their decision to reject God affect how we live, act and think. God gives us incredible peace and joy. Who are we to so easily give it up to those who dont even want HIM? and yes, this abuse can be overwhelming. I had to recently stop going to the pool where we live, due to all the Christian bashing comments, and the worldy converation. I really was helped by the pool water... really helps the joints. But, I had to sacrifice this, because of the others that mock and hate GOD. I couldnt take one more day of it, tho I tried to talk to them. Noone heard it. But, not all heard Jesus either. We must remember this, keep a smile on our face, and just know while they mock us, God is smiling at US for standing for Him. and remember, we dont have to get even or anything. We just leave them to God, and all will pay for all the awful they do in this world. There is a judgement day for each one of us. When they are on the way to hell, I doubt they will be mocking God anymore, or us. God tells us that one day ever y knee will bow and KNOW He is God, and that even the mountains will bow. Just pity those ppl, pray for them, and continue living your life for the Lord. Its worth all we have to give it.
Press on dear christian. If noone is mocking a Christian, then the Christian is surely doing something wrong. BEcause God tells us they will hate it. If they dont see Jesus in us, what is there to hate?? Think on that one..... Its Jesus they try to kill, again and again, even when they dont know THAT.
Press on with Jesus, and know you arent alone. He is always there with you, and so are all of us true Christians all over the world that experience all you do. Just think in many countries, they are beaten to tortured for their faith. and God tells us it will get worse here too. We will suffer some tribulation before the rapture. Just be glad we arent going thru the great tribulation, where such suffereing will be unreal. God doesnt do it to them. They do it to themselves. Just pray and press on.

I don't hate them, but when they say hateful things to me, I'm not just going to take it
Many Christians assume that atheists and agnostics are immoral, and their lives are meaningless and they simply can't be decent human beings, instead of trying to understand and tolerate, in the Christian religion, if you don't believe i Jesus, you will go to hell, they have no tolerance and there are convinced their religion is the true religion, and that's not what every religion in the world believes (hinduism accepts all religions, my mom is Hindu and she never said anything about Allah or Jesus)
Christians always drag religion into many political issues, America is not a Christian nation, it is a FREE nation, therefore we have the right to do and believe what we want as longa s we're not hurting anyone, many Christians feel the need to voice their religion but realize this, not everyone believes what you do, why can't gay marriage be legal? if you're not gay, then don't get marrried to a gay person, it should be a choice, not an imposement of the religious views of a group of people, just like abortion should be a choice for the woman, I'm against abortion and I would never abort, but I'm not going to impose my views on everyone, it's better to have a choice and have people carry out what they believe
Christians need to also realize that science is not against religion, science is a result of human curiosity and intelligence and people need to stop degrading the progress made in science just because it happens to conflict with their religious beliefs, science was not developed as an anti-religion path, it has nothing to do with religion
It's not just Christians though, I realize that, but I'm not one of those crazy atheists who is going to ask you to give up god, if you find comfort in that, then go ahead, but religion needs to stop creating differences and distinctions, and promote tolerance because tolerance can lead to the little bit of peace possible in the world

Absolutely NOT!!! The scriptures have never been wrong???? Have you even read your bible??? There are so many screw ups it isn't even funny! You want a list of the bible screw ups? OK HERE YOU GO! 1. Genesis 1:3 - 5 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. COMPARE THIS TO Genesis 1:14 - 19 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day. HOW DO YOU HAVE LIGHT ON DAYS 1 - 3 WITHOUT THE SUN?????? 2. Genesis 1:11 - 12Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. THERE WAS NO SUN AT THIS POINT! IT HADN'T BEEN CREATED!!! WITHOUT THE SUN THE PLANET WOULD BE FROZEN!!! 3. Genesis 6:5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. NEWS FLASH THERE WAS NO LAW BY WHICH TO ESTABLISH WHAT WAS GOOD OR EVIL!!!! WITHOUT THE LAW THERE CAN BE NO KNOWLEDGE OF SIN!! ROMANS 7:7 I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Keep in mind that there was no Law when God said find 10 righteous! Without a law there would be no way to establish who was good or evil!! Yet that didn't stop this murderous God from killing yet again! How many screw ups will it take before Christians stop lying by saying the bible has never been wrong???

I don't hate ALL Christians... just those that want to write their religious beliefs into public laws that affect EVERYONE... for example, (many) Christians believe homosexuality is immoral, so on the basic of that RELIGIOUS belief, they want to write laws that prohibit gays from marrying... Why aren't the beliefs of non-Christians ever given any weight? (I'm not gay myself, I just oppose such laws on principle...) If Christians were more like the Amish and lived their own lives and let others live theirs, they would be a lot more respected... Instead, they think that they (and they ALONE) should dictate the laws and culture of this land... They think America is their private property and anyone else is just a squatter on "their" land!!! And they're surprised we're pissed off...?

I understand this sentiment. It's to the point now where I do feel uncomfortable discussing my Christianity with anyone, because I know the stereotype I'll be lumped into. And while I understand people of less mainstream faiths being sick of these sentiments, they need to understand that rational, respectful Christians can feel as marginalized as they do.
The problem is, rational, tolerant, respectful Christians tend to be quieter, by definition. The loud Christians are the hateful, intolerant, anti-intellectual, selfish ones, and so that is the public face of Christianity. Until more reasonable Christians start to speak out against the actions of those who unfortunately represent us, we are going to have to deal with the blowback.

I don't hate Christians.
I find it exceedingly difficult to deal with fundamentalists who understand nothing about my faith, tell me that I worship the devil, ignore the fact that I'm still dealing with prejudices from the 15th century publication "The Witches' Hammer" - which those who are prejudiced rarely understand is the source of their bigotry - and assume that just because I'm not a Christian I know nothing of Christianity, so they need to "teach me".
I also am more than a little put off by those Christians who want to make our school curriculum Christian based, so that when I have children they can feel persecuted on a daily basis because their mother is a Wiccan and witches should not be suffered to live (thanks King James).

Honey, when was the last time you were physically threatened for your religion? I'm guessing never. Try being a Wiccan and being told ten times a day that you're going to hell to be eaten, eviscerated, or raped for all eternity. You'll love it, I'm sure.
I'm tired of Christians whining about being persecuted. You guys have a cross on every corner, your 10 Commandments on the wall of every school, and a prayer at every baseball game.

Imagine this.
You're a vegetarian. You have become a vegetarian because you've decided that it's the right thing for your life. You don't try to get others to become vegetarians; it's a personal decision, and others can do as they please, as far as you're concerned.
Lots of places where you go, you hear people talk bad about vegetarians, you hear them talk as if eating meat is the only right way to live, and lots of people are trying to convince you to give up being vegetarian and eat meat. People assume that you ARE a meat eater (because that's the "only right way"), and recoil from you when you say you're not. They criticise your cooking (because you dn't cook meat), they condemn you for not doing what they do.
They even come to your door. You're at home, doing whatever you're doing, and a meat service salesman comes to your door to try to get you to subscribe. You say 'No thank you, I'm a vegetarian". That really should end things right there, but it doesn't.
The guy at the door proceeds to tell you that you are bad and wrong for not eating meat, and that you're going to suffer for it, and keeps pushing at you to eat meat. He keeps quoting the sales catalogue from his company to "prove" to you that it's the only right way to live to eat meat; he points you towards parts of the catalogue that say that non-meat eaters are doomed to eternal punishment.
Eventually you get fed up with this, and proceed to tell the salesman WHY you're a vegetarian - the ethical reasons, the health reasons, etc. You explain that you do NOT believe his message about punishment, about suffering, about the health "benefits" of eating meat.
And he responds by calling you hateful.

I wonder the same thing as I read some of the questions and posts. Of course the Bible tells us that as Christians we will be persecuted so I guess we should expect it. All we can do is to live our best life, help others when we can and pray for those who put us down.

Thats a great question for them to ask themselves, not ask others. Of course, you'll draw very much hatred on this and many drive-by negative comments. But before they hated me, they hated Jesus and I count it a joy to be counted worthy of persecution for my Lord as I Am Not ashamed of The Gospel of Jesus Christ. I pray for all the non-believers for peace, health, protection, and prosperity. May they experience The Love of Christ in their life today, in Jesus' Name, Amen! PEACE!!!
