To say that there's no life after death, one must acknowledge that after death there is nothingness. But can one actually imagine nothingness? Does all the experiences, emotions, fellowships, achievements just come to a full stop when we stop breathing?

Creation, whether at the Hands of God or the slow progress of Science, took a huge amount of effort and time jsut to bring us to where we are now, simple homo-sapien creatues typing out our thoughts in front of a complex machine. And the progress of creation has not stopped yet.

It would ultimately be a waste of time and energy if everything that we have lived for just ended at the time of our deaths. I refuse to believe that all this time and energy expended just to get me where I am right now would amount to nothing at one finale.

First define life. Life is the experience of being alive, breathing eating, heart pumping, action. We experience the world with our senses which transmit those experiences to our brains via chemical electrical connections. Those connections are dependent on a living body to supply them with the nutrients they need to do their job as is the brain which records and stores those experiences.

Death is the cessation of activity. No more collection of experiences, no more support for brain tissue. The brain dies, looses its memories, its identity and after awhile beings to rot. The life, the experience of being alive has ended. So there is no life after death.

The notion that there is some essence that survives death and carries all our memories and personality to another plane of existence has absolutely no basis in reality. I don't have to prove it doesn't exist when no one has ever been able to prove that it does. Quotes from thousand year old books of myth don't hold any water.

When you are dead, you are dead.

Why else would we all be here?

Just a thought.

Truly though, if you sit quietly and think about nothing for long enough, you will find all answers within.

It's pretty safe for me to think that there is life after death because the alternative thought sucks.

You are correct in saying that people cannot be sure until they get there.

I am going to wait for my time to find out.

Peace.

It is all a theory. Unprovable until they die. For me I have faith in what my God says.
It is commonsense that there is life after death. Through observation of those who have come back from the dead the proof is in there testimony's.

To say I am sure there is no God, no Heaven, no Hell shows pure lack of wisdom. There is to much proof of Gods presents to deny there is a God.

Those who don't believe in God are the same that thought the earth was the center of the universe, the sun rotated around the earth or that the earth was flat.

Oh! but there is life after death,
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again (spiritual birth). John 3:3.
It's simple, believe in Jesus Christ and go to Heaven. Do not believe in Him and go the Hell. It's your choice.

I better be sure? How can I be sure if I don't know? How can you be so sure that there IS a life after death if YOU"VE never experienced it? I'd like to think that I except all possibilities, but I definitely have a hypothesis. It seems more likely than not, that I will not survive my death.

I'm sure there IS life after death, based on some ghostly experiences I've had. But, many people insist on telling me I'm wrong with no direct proof one way or another of their own...like it's supposed to be an arrogance contest!

You gotta have faith. A long time ago before industrialization, folks had to have faith. Faith that the rains would come and water their crops and livestock. Faith in themselves and their fellow man.

In this day and age, that is all gone or vanishing. People need to take care of their spiritual needs to be truly comforted and at ease with life. Being afraid of death is silly and no way to live.

actually, there is a "coming back"..
I was pronounced dead after my heart stopped on an air ambulance while being flown out for emergency surgery.
there is no "life" after death, because the body dies...but there IS another realm...another place.
I'm not talking heaven and hell here,,,I'm just letting you know there IS another realm.
Luckily, I came back and am here to enjoy my family and friends for whatever time I have left...but the experience changed me greatly.

No one can be 100% sure either way.
Science and the ability to rationalize leads some of us in one direction, while faith and a false perception of the importance of the existence of humans leads others in another.
