I know the topic of miracles is a bit cliche, especially around this time of year. Nevertheless, I am idealistic and open to the idea. I always hear about miracles on tv but never in real life. Have any of you ever experienced a miracle...large or small? Do you believe it can happen (if you haven't)?

I just want to say right now that i am 16 years old.

Last sunday i didn't want to go to work so i asked my mom to call my boss and tell him i was sick, so that i could go hunting with my dad.

Would this make me a sinner for asking my mom to lie for me?
Or is my mom a sinner for lying?

Or both? :)

"What I'm thinking is that you're not liking your God's form of justice right now."

This part of the email that my friend sent me(he was giving me the advice I asked for concerning religious matters) kind of makes sense to me.I don't like my (Christian) God's form of justice.I agree that it is fair, but I just have uneasy and sorrowful feelings toward it.
Any Christians feel this way as well?

Before you tell me that 'Jesus is God' or 'his Son' please remember that Jesus and his disciples worshiped God in the synagogue.

'Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers.' (Qur'an 5:72)

Rape is a big crime that could actually take the woman's or the victim's life away. Let us examine how Christianity deals with the rapist: "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. (From the NIV Bible, Deuteronomy 22:28)" Although this Verse from the Bible only talks about virgins, but its the only verse in the entire Bible that talks about raping single women. Not to be biased or anything, but the Bible seems to have quite weird things in it that are quite irrational and quite ridiculous. Deuteronomy 22:28 forces the raped woman to marry her rapist.

My question to the writers of the Bible is why in the world would any raped female victim want to be in the same town, not the same bedroom !! with her rapist?.

Did people just make up heaven as a place to go when you die because they were too afraid to tell the children that when you die... that's it? End of story... game over?

Jesus commanded that his followers sheath their swords and love their enemies.

This means Christians should run away when attacked, or die for the cause like your master.

Which do you think makes more sense: morals evolving in social animals to further shared genes, or some distant entity that exists in another dimension who told us about morals that just happen to make biological sense?

This is a freedom for religion Country, but I have heard some worrisome thoughts on electing a person of This religion... WHY?

I am not Muslim, I do not follow any specific religion in tone or creed as far as rules of being who the "higher pwer" wants us to be to an exact code. But I do believe....

So if the differences, that are apparent, were to influence a nation, what effects could there be? In your opinion?

Extra Credit.. What if an Athiest were to be elceted President?

South Park?

they say a guy from another universe, zenu, burned aliens in a volcano and now thier spirits are responsible for all of mankind's problems.

no wonder tom cruise has been behaving so strangely. it takes a certain kind of person to believe all that.

i thought that when christians explain christianity to non-believers that they had a hard row to hoe. can you imagine trying to get someone to join your religion when you have to tell them about an overlord from another galaxy freezing aliens and bringing them to earth and their spirits haunting and possessing cave-men millions of years ago.

and what's with those paddle things they make you hold while you talk about your feelings?

thanks :)

Technically, following the conventions of grammar, shouldn't the plural of the word "crucifix" be "crucifices"? You know, like matrix->matrices or index->indices?

Just curious, I never really thought about it before.

i'm catholic. so obviously i go to a catholic church. but apparently i've been numb to what's going on...for the past 15 years =) church is boring! the priests...make it seem like a funeral. everything's so serious. and when we say the creed, or prayers, pretty much everyone there just says the words off a piece of paper, but it really means nothing to them. it's just so dreary....and the songs are slow....and the priests walk down the aisle like they're sleepwalking.

and i know..."it's a church. we havta show respect". well in order to have respect, it doesn't mean you have to make it boring. i mean jeez. not all of us are 85 with no energy. any thoughts?

The winter solstice is on the 21st of december, and the sun comes back to normal on the 25th of december. This was celebrated bu many people around europe and asia, when they figured out this pattern, whith several traditions and rituals, and observed as a holiday. When the christians were converting the pagans, the made the pagan holidays as christian as could be, thus making the 25th a celebration of christs birth, and easter, originaly a celebration of the fretility god , to the ressurection of christ. Does anyone have more information on some of the traditions and celebrations concerning the winter solstice?
