i'm catholic. so obviously i go to a catholic church. but apparently i've been numb to what's going on...for the past 15 years =) church is boring! the priests...make it seem like a funeral. everything's so serious. and when we say the creed, or prayers, pretty much everyone there just says the words off a piece of paper, but it really means nothing to them. it's just so dreary....and the songs are slow....and the priests walk down the aisle like they're sleepwalking.

and i know..."it's a church. we havta show respect". well in order to have respect, it doesn't mean you have to make it boring. i mean jeez. not all of us are 85 with no energy. any thoughts?

You know why teens hate church? Because it's about as exciting as watching flies fu'ck. Fu'ck church, I'll take booze over god anytime.

Good point, the younger set is an electronically connected generation, and I believe churches are missing out on a huge opportunity to reach young people through technology and the stimulation that they are looking for in today's world. Strange how I thought the same thing about 20 years ago, and thought sure it would change with my generation. Not!

Best advice I can offer you is to change the world yourself. Get a degree. Go to seminary. Become a priest or clergy yourself. Make a difference. Or just continue trying to "sell" your needs to the existing clergy. Good luck.

It does happen at some Catholic Churches. I suggest that you go to a Catholic Church in a part of town where there are more young families. Or maybe go to a later Mass at your Church.

If all else fail, become more involved in your parish, especially with the music ministry and see if you can start a choir that has more young people in it that will sing with more energy.

Become part of the solution.

Church shouldn't be boreing. If you are not happy where you are going, find a new church.

Catholic churches are often very official, and not generally known for being "fun." The catholic religion believes more in fear and intimidation, then teaching the love and understanding God actually has for us. I am personally not catholic, but have been to many catholic churches, and finding a fun one could be hard. It might take a switch of demoninations. Calvary Chapels are generally more easy going, and they are EVERYWHERE! You could try looking for one, or just try out different churches.

That is one of the reasons why I left the catholic church when I was 18 because it is all dos and donts and the priest doing everything it is like you are not supposed to think for yourself.
It was not my choice growing up to be catholic and that is another reason why I left. I am a christian and Jesus is not a religion it is a relationship.

You should try to get a youth mass started at your church where the music and sermons are more directed at young people. If your church doesn't or won't have a youth mass you should go to www.lifeteen.com and look for a lifeteen church in your area. Lifeteen was started to make mass more accessible to teens and a lot of churches have lifeteen programs. You should check it out and even if you don't, try to find soemthing about mass that draws you in. I didn't like going when I was young either, but allow yourself to grow and get into it and you might be surprised at your reaction.

In my church, members of the congregation take turns giving talks. Some talks are very interesting and the speakers are very engaging...others are scared and kind of boring.

So a good trick I learned is, when they're boring, is to think of the topic they are speaking on and imagine what I would want to say if it were me giving the talk. It works pretty well - give it a shot.

Other churches DO have more fun than that, you just have to find one, it doesn't matter what the religion is. I've been to several churches that sing and clap and get into it. They have bands and things to keep it interesting. I've also been to other churches where its boring as heck. Just depends on where you go.

It's just a different ways to worship God.
God doesn't restrict you to one way of worship.
God looks into your heart more than your action (many hypocrite persons in the church who say the prayer without believing on it).
If you prefer to worship in baptist's way, go to baptist church.
We are saved by the faith in Jesus Christ, not by the specific way of worship.

God bless :)

Well, they have to do something so people will come and give their money. That is what a church is like without God, why don't you get out of in and attend somewhere where they believe the Bible. Maybe this is God's way of telling you to leave.

So, you want song and dance, eh??

Are you in search of entertainment or enlightenment? Perhaps Glen Beck is the clergyman you seek.

And I thought the church selling out to Caesar by becoming incorporated was the major problem.
