From what I see on Yahoo answers, if you even question the merits of Bible and Christianity, you are labeled as an Atheist and flamed without mercy. Are there any others like me who are agnostic and are just trying to get some answers?

Why do Gods always hide themselves from us, and then make the biggest issue between humans and them believing they exist?
Surely if they made themselves known to us and we could get past faith, we could have a much more meaningful relationship?

Why if humans are Gods main attention, is space so much bigger than we need to live in? Whats the rest of it for?

I'm really curious about the opinions and understandings people have about God... or gods for that matter. Just answer the question, "Who is God?"

With all the storys that is going around about the bible and it's been rewritten a number of times ,was is it rewritten with his word or by man. why would we evolve from monkeys ?if we did why are they still in captivity. That makes me think the story of life if a lie and man cannot make up its mind on how humans became of the earth?

they say it is a sin to hate and kill yet they all do it.
Isn't that just as bad a breaking of their laws as abortion.
so you wait until their 17 and kill them whats the difference?
They don't like gays but they tell them don't ask don't tell.
Isn't that like saying do it but we don't want to know about it.
Seems that religion is confusing and not in agreement with each other even.

I was watching the news last night and found out some very intresting news...The lovely little town I live in has decided to not allow Christmas in the schools. Anything that is done during the Christmas season HAS to be 100% educational. The kids can only read stories for literay purposes. The words Jesus, Mary, Star... are not allowed to be used word searches or cross word puzzles. How many of you feel this is a little extreme? Yes, I know there are different religions out there BUT,If the focus isnt on one specific religion.. how can they BAN Christmas in schools. Its bad enough they are trying to change the Pledge, and have removed prayer in schools... Come on.. where is the limit for government envolvement in our lives?

There is a myth rampant on this board, that preceeds the DaVinci Code, that Constantine created the Catholic Church, picked the books of the bibles and changed Christianity and used the Council of Nicea to create his own Christianity. As none of this fits the historical record, who started this? Further, it is far from what actually happened. My gut says the myth came from the time of the Reformation as a lot of non-truths got published by partisans in what became a very bloody civil war (1/3rd of Germans killed each other). As Satan is the "Father of Lies," I would think the more stringent groups such as fundamentalists would seek to have this lie quashed. Anyone have an idea where this myth first appears in the historical record and who the oldest author of it is?

When I lay me down to sleep, I say an earnest pray to my maker. When I drive in the rain or heavy traffic, board a plane, leave my house, think about the welfare of my family I believe and pray.
But when I read Y!A's questions/answers I side with the Atheist.

In a previous question, I had been "corrected" when I stated that Jesus was Palestinian. I was told by so many people that he was a Jew. No kidding!

He was Jesus of Nazareth. Nazareth was a Palestinian town. Are you aware that Palestine is not a religion, it is a location? Even today there are Palestinian Jews. There are also Christians and, of course, Muslims. What is blocking people from seeing a simple fact ?

One of the biggest difficulties surrounding the Biblical account of Jesus' Birth, in Luke, is how the weather was at the time. In Luke, it was said that shepherds were out in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks. Some people suggest that it would have been too cold to be out in the fields, but we are talking about the Middle East. My landlord is Muslim, from Bahrain, and she said that the weather there isn't cold at this time of year. So perhaps Jesus WAS born in December. Does it make you wonder? Does anyone have any counter-theories?

Since, among other things, they don't believe in a heavenly afterlife it must really piss them off to know, on their deathbed, that they will miss Armageddon. Surely the major draw of a faith is to have something to look forward to after death. I don't understand a faith which rejoices as it sees the world falling apart because it thinks second coming must surely be nigh.
