I am a jail minister and find myself often in court rooms with inmates I have worked with. I see parents defending their children with no respect for authority.Recently a mother, mad at a police officer who had wrote her son a speeding ticket claiming that the old truck he was driving could not possibly go that fast.I had seen this boy in jail bragging how fast he could drive. All she accomplished that day was to teach her son to lie to authority. And yet they want their children to respect them.I am not talking about the court room only, I am talking about the respect due in the home, church, school, and goverment, etc.. What can we do to help our children ?

I don't think the Bible ever personally addresses "lesbianism"
( female homosexuality). Do you think this is one reason that "lesbianism" (female homosexuality) is much more accepted then "Gays"
(male homosexuality) in the American culture? As the Bible has had a profound influence on the way a lot of people view things...what do you think?

Then I heard about instant salvation. Now I don't understand the Parable of the Sower like I thought I did. Why did Jesus tell that parable if instant salvation happens?

And I know that you believe it. But belief in something does not make it the truth. I know you think it was written or inspired by god, but thats NOT the truth. It was written by man who was inspired by his own spiritual belief, and thats ok. Can you not atleast admit that just because YOU belive it, does NOT nessessarily make it the truth. Saying your God is the only true god, will only lead to more bloodshed. No one wants that.

christmas is actually derived from a pagan holliday, the tree is a pagan symbol of renewal of life. the eating of ham, the holly, the mistletoe, the giving of presents, are alll pagan traditions."
the only thing christian about christmas is that you pretend christ was born on this day, which every biblical scholar knows christ wasnt actually born on december 25th.

Yule - winter solstice celebration
Sol Invictus - celebration of 2 deities, Sol Invictus (unconquered sun) and Mithras (sun of righteousness). December 25th was considered the date of the winter solstice, the date that the sun "proved" itself to be unconquered.

how many of u christians knew anything about this? or did u just go through your whole lives claiming this celebration as your own cause failed to research anything about it?

I learned that the Bible describes baptism as a public testimony of faith and identification with Jesus (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-4).

Recently talking with a Catholic, he mentioned that according to Catholicism, baptism washes away original sin.
My question is: can anyone show me where in the Bible this is mentioned?

Recently there was a question but forth to the Jews concerning their understanding of this verse.

I so enjoyed the honest answers given, that I did some more research into their comments.

Most referenced John 19:37, and said John misquoted Zech 12:10, by adding "him" to the text, thus proving John, Jesus and the NT to be wrong.

In looking at two different Greek interlinears I found that in the original text the word "him" is not there.

Does this help to prove that John did not misquote Zech. 12:10?

I found that statement on the website (http://www.repentamerica.com/goodenough.html) and although I knew premarrital sex was a sin I have never heard that it is a sin God will not forgive or one he will condemn a man or woman to hell for. Any information or thoughts?
