My dad has been having some health issues for a few months. A CT Scan he had performed this week showed a spot on his pancreas- he's going to the doctor tommorow to talk about what's going on with it. I'm trying to be positive and not worry, but it's not working. I truly believe in prayer- and I feel that the more people you have praying, the better. So, could you please say a prayer for him? And, please, out of courtesy, if you are not a Christian or don't agree with me that prayer works, etc. please don't leave sarcastic remarks. If you dislike my question, just ignore it please. I'm feeling a little shaky here- my dad has had numerous health problems for many years, and I'm just really worried. Thankyou.

why do most muslims in countries such as indonesia, malaysia, brunai and even india and srilanka eat pork and call it mutton? now no muslim can deny this because i have been to these countries and seen it all myself. when i asked the reason from some muslims in these countries they told me that poverty and the lack of food is the reason why muslims eat pork, as pork is cheaper than other meats.

can this be the reason?

In today's world is religion solving or creating more problems? What are the qualities you feel us humans need to develop to make the world a better place? Or do you feel that no matter how technologically advanced we get we never progress as far as fighting amongst ourselves is concerned as it is our nature and it will never change? In your own words, no scriptural text please.

As I become older and smarter, Christianity and God sound more and more ridiculous. Am I crazy? Am I alone?

I come from a family with 2 religous parents and a rebellious sister.

I'm 21 years old now and I honestly feel like the "Word of God" isn't real/truth. Its starting to sound like more and more like fear-mongering as opposed to words from an actual God.

I've never spoken with God or Jesus and everyday it sounds like this person i'm supposed to talk to is an "imaginary friend." I still haven't found any concrete proof that God exist and every "blessing" that I receive has a logical explanation.

I'm I going crazy? Is there anyone else feeling like this? Lemme know.

Does this mean God had a penis? Why? Does God have sperm? Why? to impregnate Who?? What did God eat before he created earth? Does he eat? and what? Does God dream? Does God shave? Does God use the bathroom? If the blood of christ will save you! Did Jesus ever get bit by a mosquito? and if so is it still alive?

What if I invited my Indian friend over and disguised pork in a dish and he ate it? Does it mean his salvation is compromised? I find this "not eating pork" thing to be ridiculous.

Bible says: worship/believe in God/Jesus and you'll go to Heaven.
What if the Bible said if you don't believe in Heaven, you would just die and that would be it (atheist's point of view)? One would cease to exist.
Right now though the Bible says if one don't worship god, one goes to Hell ("follow me or else" - threat). Believing something and being punished for it is morally wrong. You wouldn't get married to someone and say, "I love you forever, unless you step out of line; I will proceed to beat you, burn you and torture you." That's not love.
So God will send you to Hell. God doesn't love you. God loves you when you love him. If you don't love God, God hates you for he sends you eternally to Hell (punishment).
Is that a loving or good God? Or is that a vindictive, nasty, evil God?

Like, at my school. About 75% of the kids there are Christian, but they sure don't act like it.

They curse alot. And no I don't mean like now and then: it's a part of their daily language....

Now I'm just confused.

a couple hours ago, I asked a question about evolution and that I beleive in God. I clearly asked for people not to comment on my being Christian, just to answer the question i had about evolution. and then some jerk on here starts saying stuff about "God's magical powers..." and "...God must have made your great-great grandparents out of thin air...oohh spooky!".
I didnt ask for that!
why do people on this site have to attack each other on their beleifs and then be such jerks about it? I've never been like that towards anyone on here, but yet big headed jerks have to be rude...what's up with that? (please no comments on evolution)

This is more of a hypothetical question in the context I am asking it, as it is easy to see many of us do not believe in the organized religions of the present/past.

It always amazes me how little most people of a religion know about their religion's history and concepts, but what amazes me even more is how the people that do can still affliliate with their religion.

These are the kind of people that I would envision would have supported Hitler during the Holocaust out of fear of punishment for disobeying.

What kind of God, and this does not go for every religion, but what kind of God would send people to hell for choosing the wrong religion. Even the most brainwashed of you must be able to admit that their is absolutely no proof of any religion. Quite on the contrary actually, modern science is increasingly ruling out the possibilities for the authenticity of contemporary religions.

If I lose something like a piece of jewelry which I bought for myself - (i.e., not received as an heirloom or other gift of sympathetic value) but nontheless am very fond of - and pray to find it again, does God (even if he grants my request) disapprove of my concern for a material item? (Sorry for the marathon sentence!) Thanks for all responses. Yes, even the spoof ones. (They remind me to appreciate the fact that I actually have a life)!

Passage Jeremiah 10 :

Jeremiah 10
1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of
Israel:

2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not
dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at
them.

3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree
out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the
axe.

4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails
and with hammers, that it move not.

5They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs
be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they
cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

6Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art
great, and thy name is great in might.

7Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it
appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in
all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.

8But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a
doctrine of vanities.

9Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from
Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue
and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.

10But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an
everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the
nations shall not be able to abide his indignation
