Passage Jeremiah 10 :
Jeremiah 10
1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of
Israel:
2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not
dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at
them.
3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree
out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the
axe.
4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails
and with hammers, that it move not.
5They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs
be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they
cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
6Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art
great, and thy name is great in might.
7Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it
appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in
all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
8But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a
doctrine of vanities.
9Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from
Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue
and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
10But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an
everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the
nations shall not be able to abide his indignation

THANK YOU!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!! someone knows that God forbids Christmas trees. the next thing is you probably know that Jesus was born in or around September. Awesome, more people are realizing that Christmas is just a pagan thing, and nothing of God is in it.

The person who did all of this reasearch above is absolutely historically correct. The really important thing to me is: does God accept worship if it includes practices from pagan religions? The Old Testament makes perfectly clear that again and again he was outraged by the ancient nation of Israel when they did so.
A really great example of this was after the Hebrews had fled Egypt in Moses' day. They had even crossed the Red Sea to safety. Yet when Moses seemed to be gone a long time on Mt. Sinai (he was busy receiving the Ten Commandments and hundreds of other commandments known in the Bible as "The Law") the people decided to make a golden calf to use in worship like they had seen being done by the Egyptians in their religions. They even called the presentation of the golden calf "A festival to Jehovah" saying and really thinking that they were honoring the true God with this. Yet notice what God told Moses: "Go, descend, because your people whom you led up out of the land of Egypt have acted ruinously. They have turned aside in a hurry from the way I have commanded them to go."
He was so angry at the people for polluting what had been his instructions for worship by having this pagan "festival" that he told Moses he wanted to "exterminate" all of them. (Exodus 32: 5-10).
Can a holiday today that is based on pagan practices actually be acceptable to God as an honor to Him and his Son, Jesus Christ? Well, God doesn't change. Resoundingly, the answer is no!

The Bible really doesn't mention anything about 'Xmas' at all.
What you quoted MAY APPEAR to be so because of the reference to "one cutteth a TREE out of the forest..."
But if you read the whole Chapter in its entirety, it actually pertains to the HAND-MADE, WOODEN IDOLS that "move not", or "speak not", "must needs be borne", or "cannot do evil, neither also it is in them to do good..."
These are the IDOLS [usually of Patron Saints, of Mother Mary, or of Jesus as a Child or in Crucifixion] that are being carried on the shoulders of the Church faithful during their PROCESSIONS during certain times of the year, such as Lent or the Patron Saint's Day.
These IDOLS are bedecked with all the glitter of "silver and gold", "blue and purple is their clothing" and "they are all the work of cunning men."
Processions are usually quite common in countries where Catholicism thrives.
In short, it speaks of IDOLATRY...
Peace be with you.

From what I've studied about that passage, the object that the people are carvingout of a tree is an idol, not a Christmas tree.
"they fasten it with nails
and with hammers, that it move not.
5They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs
be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they
cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good"
Trees cannot walk,or talk,so why would anyone think that they could,if it was a Christmas tree that Jeremiah was talking about?
However,an idol in the shape of a person is something different entirely. If the craftsmen did fashion an idol out of wodd, the people would have been worried about whether it was alive or not. That's why Jeremiah said '' Be not afraid of them; for they
cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.''
Of course, some Christians believe that those verses do refer to a Christmas tree, and choose not to have one at Christmas time.

Put it in context. These verses have nothing to do with Christmas trees, as you are apparently taking it. It is talking about how idolatry and astrology would destroy Israel as it was to other nations around it.
