I wanted to check out a Reform or Conservative synagogue but I thought the service might be in Hebrew. Are there some services in English?

For not respecting & mistreating women? What about these verses in the bible, Deuteronomy?
But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:
26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
27 For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her
If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
So if a man rapes a non-virgin, then he is put to death, BUT if he rapes a virgin, then he must pay her father & marry her? How is THAT fair?

Could ALLAH ignore the social evolution of the woman? Didn’t ALLAH know that the woman would be educated and occupy positions of work in the world. In our society, women occupy all positions. She is a physician, a research scientist, a cabinet minister, a prime minister, even a queen and a head of state.

yarmulkas, burqa's and large crosses in all public places? And, what would such a ban achieve?

This is a growing debate in some European countries with the most recent one in Amsterdam where the "burqa ban" might be going into effect soon.

I think I just stumbled on a large part of the conflict in this room.

Or I could ask it this way: 2) Is GW a follower of Christ?

(Hint: the above question is not the same as the question in the subject line. To put it another way, if I say that I'm the starting pitcher for the Yankees, does that make it so?)

3) What was Christ's fundamental teaching?

If I could ask, would you please indicate whether you are For or Against Christ along with your answers to 1) 2) and 3). I think it would be indicative.

I'll try and make this short...
I have a friend who has a daughter in 5th grade (public school). Her teacher found out what church they attend, and decided to take it upon herself to tell the girl that her parents where wrong, and that they were all going to hell. This upset the girl, and of course went home and told her parents. They have met with the principle, and have threatened a lawsuit. Would you do the same?

Although the story of Adam and Eve sounds nice, the theory of evolution is more realistic. I don't mean to offend anyone, nor do I mean to push my views, I'm just curious as to what other people think and feel.

Prejudice based on race or nationality: Matthew 15:22-28 describes an incident between Jesus and a Canaanite woman. Mark 7:25-30 describes the same incident, identifying her as Greek/Syrophenician. One commentary on the Bible explains that "The inhabitants of this area were racially and linguistically connected with the ancient Canaanites." 8 She begged Jesus to cure her daughter who was possessed by a demon. He first ignored her, but then explained that he was sent only to bring the Gospel to the Jews, not to the Gentiles such as she. Jesus cruelly replied to the desperate mother that it was not right for him "to take the children's bread and to cast it to dogs." i.e. it is not appropriate to take the Gospel, which was intended only for the Jews, and offer it to Gentiles as well -- here described as sub-humans, as dogs. Here, Jesus was following the behavior of other observant Jews in the 1st century CE who would frequently refer to Gentiles contemptuously as "dogs.") She quipped back to Jesus that even the "dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Jesus relented and, from a distance, cured the daughter of demonic possession because of the mother's faith.

The sin in this case was to treat a person of another race and/or nationality as sub-human, by referring to them as a dog.

after watching the daVinci Code and reading the book, what is the big deal? Why is this such a far fetched idea, and why do people have such problems with the idea that Jesus could have been married. I think that it would have been great.
