Could ALLAH ignore the social evolution of the woman? Didn’t ALLAH know that the woman would be educated and occupy positions of work in the world. In our society, women occupy all positions. She is a physician, a research scientist, a cabinet minister, a prime minister, even a queen and a head of state.

A woman who is raped is an adulterer and goes to prison. She doesn`t he a right to speak up and must find 4 male witnesses to defend her. This is so in Iran and many other countries also.

Many Mosques even in N. America don`t even allow women in. 66% of Mosques in N America put up barriers and walls or put women behind one way glass so they won`t be seen. They are distraction to be put up with for now until we get rid of them completely.

The most modern of Muslim countries,Turkey, has separate guarded beaches for Islamic women only. Not to protect women but to keep them from consorting with men and ensure their enslavement.

If a woman speaks up then she is being brainwashed by Christians and Jews and other enemies of Islam. She will be attacked. She is listening to the evil Western ways. She should understand her place "at the back of the bus".

Even in N America there are still arranged marriages inside Islam. Yes in this nation of freedom and freedom of religion it still happens though rare. Women who marry out side of Islam are prostitutes. Christian men who marry a Muslim woman must convert otherwise their wives are prostitutes in the eyes of Islam today. This is so in S. East Asia and elsewhere.

In Saudi Arabia my mother was not allowed to drive her own car. She had to have a driver and had to sit in the back seat. Was this for her protection? No. Muslim men don`t want women to have the mobility of a car and be able to drive off into the sunset.
A woman can be divorced and left penniless by her husbands command I divorce you. Bin laden and men of wealth do it constantly as did Bin Ladens father before him. That is why Bin Laden was raised by a business partner of his father and not his father.
Islam and Sharia Law provides very few protections for women because all the protections given can be taken away with the command of an interpretation of the Koran by men.
Womans status is only lip service to be taken away.

Let us not forget circumcision. practiced in a lot of Islamic countries to prevent women from enjoying sex. Another way to keep them in bondage to men.

Honor killings. A Father kills his daughter for dating.

Male doctors can`t even examine a woman in many Muslim countries. Are Islamic men so insecure we can`t even trust male doctors..

Women are told, "you are Islams jewels that must be protected" that is why we must isolate and hide you. What a crock.

In Afghanistan before the war ( Bin Ladens Islamic utopia ) women were not even allowed to be educated. Just last week a Teacher was disemboweled by the Jihad Taliban for educating girls at the school. An educated woman can free her self from her slavery. In Pakistan and many other countries they can`t go to Mosque. This separation and isolation, this enslavement can only be enforced if the males all agree with it. Thus Islam provides that catalyst.
Islam was once the only protector of women. Democracy now is the true provider of equality for women. That is why Islamic men must fight the West.

The inheritance issue has been addressed well by others. As to the issue of witnesses, this stipulation is specifically for the cases involving taking witnesses, i.e. for business and legal matters. Normally, two male witnesses are to be sought, otherwise, a man and two women. There are two points to be made here. The first is that at in the Islamic social system, women will not normally be involved in witnessing the business dealings of others (esp. men) and may not, therefore, be highly versed in this area. This was certainly true in the past up until recently in most of the world. Having a second female witness does two things. Firstly, it helps her to remember clearly some aspects of business dealings that may be unfamiliar to her and secondly, it allows her to have the support of another woman at her side. This is important because, in any case, there will need to be yet another witness, presumably a man. It could be very uncomfortable for the woman to go it alone against the testimony of another man. The other thing to remember is that when these verses were revealed, virtually no one in the region knew how to read. Everything was based on memory of the event, as things were seldom written down. This made the position of one who had no knowledge of a subject beforehand particularly problematic. Now, this testimony status does not apply to all circumstances. For example, a woman's testimony in the case of determining who had breastfed a child (important for marriage issues) could rest solely on the testimony of one woman. Similarly, if a husband accuses his wife of adultery but has no witnesses, his wife's testimony as to her innocence will trump his accusation, even if he claimed to have seen her engaging in sex with another man with his own eyes. Therefore, it is not really fair to say that a woman's testimony is worth half of a man's generally. In any case, it is clear from other verses in the Quran that woman have the same intrinsic value as men, although the rules governing an Islamic society may treat them differently according to the circumstances as indicated above.

Well He knew everything thats why he has given equal rights to women...Islam is the first religion to give women their rights much before this moderen civilization. our prephet has stressed upon female knowledge and told us to go to all extend for education. Well women are working in all departments in muslims country......In My medical school we had 110 females in 216 class strength.Femals are given all rights of education and our muslim comunity supports it....thst why femals are much advanced in education.our ladies are working in every field and we have more strength of ladies in our parliment....( though islam preffers male domination in politics as females are not good at making political decisions) Oh yes we had a lady prime minister elected twice..shortly there is no such feild where ladies are not working..

Islam respects & treats women as individuals with rights & duties. Funny you should mention in YOUR socitety women are physicans etc.....because statistically, there are MORE women doctors & engineers in JUST Lebanon & Jordan (two teeny weeny countries) than there are in the ENTIRE United States. I would like to know how that is oppression? I am a convert to Islam & am MUCH more liberated & "free" in all senses of the word now, than as a Christian.

You are confusing culture with religion. Islam gives a woman all of the rights you mentioned above, PLUS the right to vote more than a thousand years before the US government gave women that right. A woman has the right to work and do with her earnings as she so chooses. Her father is obligated to give her the highest education possible. She is not forbidden from being any of those things, and women are, in fact, leaders. In Pakistan, the PM is a woman. Many muslim women are physicians and scientists. How can you make such a large generalization? I am a muslim woman. I am doing my duty. I am set to graduate from college on December 21st of this year with a degree in Travel. I have a job in marketing. Women in Islam are not considered half of a man. In fact, mothers are given the highest honor. Children are to obey their mothers first and then their fathers. If there is divorce, they go with their mother or her family. The father comes fourth in line. Let me get those many verses in which it is praising women.

"But the Hoopoe tarried not Far: he (came up and) said: 'I have compassed (territory) Which thou hast not compassed, And I have come to thee From Saba with tidings true. 'I found (there a woman Ruling over them and provided With every requisite; and she Has a magnificent throne. I found her and her people Worshiping the sun besides Allah: Satan has made their deeds Seem pleasing to their eyes, And has kept them away From the Path -- so They receive no guidance --
.........
She was asked to enter The lofty Palace: but When she saw it, she Thought it was a lake Of water, and she (tucked up) Her skirts, uncovering her legs. He said: 'This is But a palace paved Smooth with slabs of glass.' She said: 'O my Lord! I have indeed wronged My soul: I do (now) Submit (in Islam), with Solomon, To the Lord of the Worlds.' (The Noble Quran, 27:22-24, 44)"

"O Prophet! When ye do divorce women, divorce them at their prescribed periods, and count (accurately), their prescribed periods: And fear God your Lord: and turn them not out of their houses, nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open lewdness, those are limits set by God: and any who transgresses the limits of God, does verily wrong his (own) soul: thou knowest not if perchance God will bring about thereafter some new situation. (The Noble Quran, 65:1)"

Following are some rights, which Muslim women have!
