It's because he learned that fact from the Jews. The OT tells us that the world is round, the moon reflects the sun and the sun gives the light, the earth rotates around the sun, etc. The bible predates the Quran by 600 years.

God or Allah has given each of His children an imagination. What you have referenced is a poetic idea that would have reflected how many people may have seen the sun and moon back then. You could probably have come up with something just as enlightening if you were in the same time and space and allowed yourself the time and creative freedom to do so.

I'm not saying that the Quran is wrong (I haven't even read it), but your argument for its credibility needs some work.

He called them different things because they look different. You can plainly see features on the moon, but the Sun just looks like fire. It really doesn't show any knowledge.

Now if he had said the Sun produced light, not by fire but by combining two atoms into one you might have a point.

You don't have to know that the moon reflects the light of the sun to call it a light. It is obviously a light at night.

If OM reads this. It states that allah has made the earth and the heavens. And out of the heavens he made seven strong. Jesus being one of them. They are adam, jesus, enoch, joseph, moses, aaron, and abraham(peace be upon them). Most christians dwell in the second heaven till a term apointed. That is the heaven of the messiah.

It states that in the hereafter, one will see moses(pbuh) as if he has never moved and people will encircle abraham(pbuh) to learn.

The word here implies that the Sun and the Moon rotate in circle, i.e. around the Earth and not around their own axis.

By bundling the Moon and the Sun together, it is clear that Muhammad thought they are alike with one being brighter than the other.

This is what Muhammad observed and this is what he said. He stated what was obvious to him and to everyone else. See how this word is translated.
