i cant stop thinking about death and how short life is.

i mean compared to an eternity in heaven... even 100 years is pretty short.

maybe there is some hope... maybe there is some kind of God.. but im pretty sure now that when you die thats it. and i cant stop thinking about it. ....anyone else go through this? and what did you do to deal with it.

btw, i already know the christian answer to this question and i dont want to hear it.

There are some things that I don't really understand.
Which parts of the Bible would you take figuratively and literally?

For example, the harlot riding the ten horned beast, why is that taken figuratively and the whole "burning" of hell is taken literally. I'm not sure what exactly it was about, but it was along the lines of weed or something burning and people took that as a literal term that people would burn. Obviously, there are other examples that I'm sure you could think of that are literal and figurative, so could you tell them to me and explain them?

What are your views?
I would greatly appreciate other perspectives! I'm really trying to grasp this concept.
Thanks a bunch!
:)

Would you like to talk about it?

What happened? How did it make you feel? Elated to survive? Lucky?

This fun test asks you about your religious beliefs and then tells you what other religions have those beliefs in common and what percentage of beliefs you share. Totally fun and interesting...check it out!

I am amazed at the number of religious people who think they are right and everyone else is wrong, especially considering all they have to go on are the fairy tales they have been told since childhood and "faith". If the Christian religion is so rightious why are they responsible for more war than any other religion since Jesus died. Why are the teachings of Christ so unheeded. Love your neighbor, don't kill, forgive...Tell me why if you can!!!

I want to know more about your religion. In Islam we are measured according to our deed --
al-a'raf 7:7-9 'then surely, we shall bring up their whole story with full knowledge, for we were never absent at any time or place.

and the weighing balance on that day will be true: those whose scale is of heavy good deeds shall prosper in Paradise. And those whose scale of good deeds is light will find their souls in contempt and danger, because they mistreated our signs.'

I ask because I always hear Jesus died for our sins, does that mean that you can do whatever you want> or does your religion weigh your good and bad deeds? With all respect.... thanks!

I have been really shocked by how intolerant so many christians are when responding to questions on this site. I am always so puzzled by that. How can someone with the love of Christ in thier hearts be so cruel and intolerant, Jesus did not act this way. So much pride and anger. I would like to ask people who are saved and sanctifed to pray that God would put a mirror to their face and make them see that when we are cruel we become a stumbling block to those who do not know Christ, that like it or not non-believers gauge God by our behavior. If you saw two people who had had surgery and ones surgery produced beautiful results and ones surgery left them scared and deformed which surgeon would you most likely want to visit to have your own surgery done? As representatives of Christ it is our duty to turn the other cheek, to love our enemies and to be an example of Christs love for us. How do those who are harsh justify their behavior?

If Jesus died for your dirt(murder, rape ect.), he obviously knows your behavior is not good

A good person wouldn't support this

God sent his only son down to get beat, tortured, and murdered just so Christians can beat, torture and murder someone else, repent and go to heaven?

That's an evil belief. There's no other way to look at it

What's the purpose of having the 10 commandments if Jesus died for you to break them?

Why are we here? What is the purpose? I know God loves us and everything, but why does he put us through so much if in the end we're just going to die? Why does he have to break our hearts so many times if we're not going to learn anything from it? I'm 18 and I've already lost so many people that ment alot to me in the past few years. I've lost faith in away.

Lets face it, no religion is right. Humans have praised Gods for thousands of years, Gods were made up by primitive humans because we as a species question everything, this is what seperates up from mere animals, we questioned where everything came from, including ourselves and we wernt smart enough to answer these questions so we made up 'God'. God clearly didnt create humans, we evolved from monkeys, MONKEYS PEOPLE!!! science has disproven that god created the world and put humans on it but people still believe in the '7 day theory' which is just STUPID!!! I believe in god, a being of some sort which created the universe but didnt create humans, he isnt watching and judging us or forgiving our sins he probably doesnt know we exist because hes tied up in other things in some other galaxy right now. No religion is right, we are just living in the past and wont move on, the bible was made up thousands of years ago by people who didnt know any better. Anyone agree???

think about it. Who is being hurt by your anger and resentments?? Probably you the most. Lets let go of baggage. Stop finger pointing.

Never answer with "because they....well if they would.....or why cant they just...."

Talk about you, not others.

Just some principles we should all practice, me included.

I sincerely want to see freedom in here. It starts with the person in the mirror, not someone else.

So.....is hating (or resenting) others like burning your own house down in order to kill a rat??

There are three hundred questions saying something like 'We must ban Christainity' or 'Islam is evil' or something like that. Why can't people learn to open and understand that what these people believe is what they believe and it's not up to them to say this crap about them.

I'm serious about this. Most guys I know are turned on by two hot girls making out, but some of them still say homosexuality is a sin and are against gay marriage, etc.

So is it a sin for guys to be turned on by two girls going down on each other?

I am a relativly new christian, and therefore my behaviors have change alot when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex. I sometimes get very uncomfortable when men approche me showing interest in me because I have only delt with one christian relationship and that man turned out to be what I believe is the new kind of player who knows many women in the church are seeking christian husbands and uses that to play her. I was very young in christ then. Anyway. I would really like some advice about Christian dating, since biblical characters didnt date. I used to operate in a way that is not acceptable now and am not sure how I should handle men who are interested in dating. I have been celebate for about 4 years and know that sex is not part of what I am willing to do. That is a non-issue, but what about the rest? How does one learn to be a nice christian girl? :O)Thank you.

I think the bad Christians are the real Christians

The following scripture is not the laws of the land back than. This is god's personality

God Will Kill Ethiopia

"You Ethiopians will also be slaughtered by my sword," says the LORD. And the LORD will strike the lands of the north with his fist. He will destroy Assyria and make its great capital, Nineveh, a desolate wasteland, parched like a desert. The city that once was so proud will become a pasture for sheep and cattle. All sorts of wild animals will settle there. Owls of many kinds will live among the ruins of its palaces, hooting from the gaping windows. Rubble will block all the doorways, and the cedar paneling will lie open to the wind and weather. This is the fate of that boisterous city, once so secure. "In all the world there is no city as great as I," it boasted. But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a place where animals live!
