Religion is NOT against stem cell research. This is one of the statements I really am tired of hearing. Religious people are only against embryonic stem cell research. You cannot be vague and misleading with these kind of statements and questions. Adult stem cell research is more promising than embryonic stem cell research. Umbilical cord cells have been used to treat sickle-cell anemia and to restore bone marrow in cancer patients. So far embryonic cells have caused tumors. What is wrong with me talking about science when I also have religious conviction?

Using stem cells from terminated fetuses brings up ethical questions about the sanctity of human life for many people particularly Christians and especially Catholics.

I think that most people don't really know anything about stem cell research. They think that it involves killing fetuses and are against it. People (of all religions) need to be informed before they take stances.

Mav understanding is that it's not stem cell research that is the problem, it's destroying embryos that is the issue.

Because they believe the stem cells come from fetuses, they think babies are being killed for stem cells. They aren't.

Life begins at conception.....after the egg is fertilized
The researchers want to take fertilized eggs to use for experiments...so they are killing babies in their lust for answers to other problems.
Life is precious to God and Jehovah God will hold them accountable for such attrocities.

Religion is usually against anything scientific because when people KNOW things, they no longer need to BELIEVE in religious stuff, and then religions would be out of business.
